“I heard you, Aurora nodded, “but I’m not causing trouble.”
:
“You’re not? With one less person in the house already? Won’t you stop?” Maxwell glared at her.
“I won’t stop. What can you do about it?” Aurora declared.
“Aurora! This is your home! Do you really want to turn it upside down, tear it apart?” Maxwell said angrily.

“You’re right, this is my home,” Aurora looked up defiantly, “my home! This house should never have included you, Sophia, Evelyn, or your malicious mother!”
Maxwell’s hand suddenly raised to strike Aurora. Aurora, unprepared to block it, instinctively closed her eyes, but the anticipated pain never came. Maxwell’s hand stopped just beside her ear, clenched into a fist. “Aurora, mind your words. She is still my mother!”
Aurora lifted her hand, brushing away Maxwell’s fist, and scoffed, “Do you know where my mother is? She succumbed to depression when I was too young to remember, and I don’t even recall her face. Then, I spent eighteen years in the Pendleton household, treated worse than an animal. Who should I blame for this? Evelyn? Sophia? No, all of this, I attribute to your mother. I will return every bit of it to her, piece by piece.”
“Your mother…” Maxwell tried to argue, to reason.
Aurora cut him off, “I don’t care what kind of person my mother was! Whether she was frivolous or shameless doesn’t matter to me. But your mother is a robber! She stole my family, my father, my life! What’s wrong with me wanting to take it all back?”
Maxwell clenched his fists, his eyes blazing with anger. Grinding his teeth, he said, “Aurora, do you really want a life–or–death struggle
between us?”
“No,” Aurora smiled coldly. “In this story, only you die, I live!”
Her heart filled with hatred, resentment, anger, and hostility, she unloaded it all on Maxwell that day. She laid bare her unyielding resolve, signaling she would never forgive them.
Maxwell, gripping Aurora’s wrist and staring into her eyes, said, “Aurora, stop this, I don’t want to be your enemy!”
Aurora shook her wrist, unable to free it, and smiled, “Then be my enemy. One more or one less, it doesn’t matter to me.”
Maxwell dragged her out of the house, Aurora struggling all the way. “Maxwell! What are you doing? Let go of me!”
Ignoring her protests, Maxwell pulled her into the car, locked the doors, and sped away.
Pressed into her seat by the force, Aurora hurriedly fastened her seatbelt, asking, “Where are you taking me?”
Maxwell didn’t answer, driving onto the highway where few cars were present, his speed increasing rapidly.
“Maxwell! Have you lost your mind? I still want to live for many years!” Aurora, frightened by the speed, screamed.
Maxwell glanced at her, sneering, “So, you do get scared?”

Chapter 182
Aurora pulled out her phone to call Heath. Just as the call connected, she exclaimed, “Heath! I…”
Before she could finish, Maxwell snatched the phone and threw it out the window.
Aurora panicked, “Are you insane?”
Maxwell glared at her, “Aurora, we’re family! You don’t trust me, but trust Heath?”
“Yes! I do trust Heath! I trust him!” Aurora shouted back.

In her heart, Maxwell was never family. They were on opposing sides, engaged in an endless battle.
It was natural for her to harbor hostility and wariness towards Maxwell. Now, with him forcibly dragging her on a high–speed highway chase, how could she not be afraid? She had been reborn, only to potentially die in a car crash on the highway? Unthinkable!
“Rory? Rory?” Heath called out twice into the phone, but the call had already been disconnected. He had a bad feeling as he pressed the intercom on his desk, “Kieran, find out where Aurora is right now.”
