“Who Backs Yvonne? Mr. Quise, it seems I’ve been too modest in the past for you to mention ‘back‘ to me, Aurora replied with a cold laugh.

Quise couldn’t help but mock her: “Ms. Pendleton, don’t overestimate yourself. Relying on Zane’s family background should be enough, right? The president of Skyline Entertainment can’t just meddle in our drama’s affairs, can he?”

‘Indeed, it’s time for me to intervene,” Aurora nodded, pulling out her phone and dialing a number. With a cold gaze at Quise, she commanded into the phone, “Withdraw the investment in Autumn’s Whispering Fan immediately!”

After hanging up, Quise shook his head in disbelief, “Ms. Pendleton, who are you trying to scare? Which of our investors are under your control? If you want to burn bridges, then Cheryl shouldn’t come back either!”

The phone rang. Aurora smiled and gestured for Quise to answer it.

Quise picked up the phone, “Hello? Oh, Mr. Griffith! Long time no see… What? Withdraw the investment? But why now, Mr. Griffith? Our collaboration has been going so well, and this show is sure to be a hit! Oh, Mr. Griffith! Mr. Griffith…”

Looking up at Aurora in disbelief, he asked, “Was this your doing?”

Aurora smiled and sat back, “Mr. Quise, you’re joking. How can I control the investors? It’s just a coincidence that I know someone with the surname Griffith. I wonder if it’s the same Mr. Griffith you just spoke with.”

Without waiting for a response, Aurora called Kieran, stating, “Kieran, I will release the funds for the production once the person responsible for the wire accident is found.”

It dawned on Quise that the largest investor wasn’t attracted by Zane, Cheryl, or the drama itself, but by Aurora.

Realizing his folly, Quise panicked, “Ms. Pendleton… I didn’t realize… Please, don’t take it to heart… Without the investment, the production can’t continue…”

Aurora leaned back, tapping her fingers on the table, “Don’t beg me, Mr. Quise. Why not ask Evelyn or Yvonne? They have such strong backing, don’t they?”

“No, no, Ms. Pendleton, I spoke without thinking. No one compares to you. Please, reinstate the investment,” Quise pleaded, fearing the repercussions of losing the investment mid–production.

“This is no joke,‘ Aurora retorted coldly, “I meant what I said. We will resume filming only when the culprit is found.”

“What if it was just an accident?” Quise inquired.

Ignoring him, Aurora stood up and left the office, convinced it was no accident.

As she passed by the set, she overheard Yvonne and her assistant.

“That was terrifying, wasn’t it? Luckily, it wasn’t too high, or Cheryl might have died,” the assistant whispered.

“What’s there to be scared of? It’s common in the industry. If you’re afraid of dying, don’t aim for fame. If not today, she’ll meet her end tomorrow,” Yvonne mocked while applying makeup.

Yvonne scoffed, “What’s she going to do? She’s just a minor player compared to Evelyn. Can she even compete for inheritance or status?”

“But Ms. Pendleton is known for being protective. If she investigates, we’ve made Cheryl’s life difficult behind the scenes, the assistant worriedly said.

“So what? Even if I went to the hospital and killed Cheryl, Aurora wouldn’t dare touch me with Evelyn and her influential brother backing me. Our studio won’t collapse,” Yvonne confidently declared.

Turning around, Yvonne met Aurora’s piercing, dark gaze.

Aurora approached Yvonne, and without hesitation, slapped her across the face.

Yvonne’s face turned sideways from the impact, and her assistant intervened, “Ms. Pendleton! What are you doing?”

“Get out of my way!” Aurora pushed the assistant aside and grabbed Yvonne by the collar, slamming her against the wall. “Yvonne, I underestimated you. How did I not see your ruthlessness earlier?”

“Let me go! I’ll call the police!” Yvonne screamed, terrified by Aurora’s menacing look.

“You want to kill Cheryl? Let’s see if you do it before I get to you!” Aurora flung her aside, and Yvonne stumbled and fell to the floor.

“Aurora, have you lost your mind?” Yvonne yelled, nursing her arm.

Laughing coldly, Aurora said, “You’ll know if I’ve gone mad once I’m done with you!”
