Me And My Billionaire Husband (Aurora and Heath) novel Chapter 196

Chapter 196

Lowen had been ruminating for days. The relationship between Heath and Aurora seemed strained. Alaric’s insinuations pointed to Aura Turvey genuinely agreeing to be with Heath. To Elowen, Aurora’s behavior screamed of playing hard to get. With Heath being sach a catch, why on earth wouldn’t she commit?

Elowen had reached out to Evelyn earlier that day, subtly probing for information about Aurora. Evelyn’s response that Aurora wasnt home led Elowen to investigate further. She checked both the Fairview Studio and the film set, finding no trace of Aurora. The last place

to look was here.

Armed with groceries, Elowen made her way to Heath’s place. Using Heath’s key, she entered, only to find Aurora looking utterly taken

aback.

Aurora? You’re here? Elowen’s voice wavered slightly, betraying her unease.

She slipped into a pair of slippers at the door, which were unmistakably Heaths. Despite the slippers being too large, making her walk clumsy, there was an unexpected charm to Elowen’s appearance. She meticulously arranged the groceries in the kitchen and reemerged.

Aurora was still in the living room, seemingly frozen, watching Elowen’s flurry of activity.

Elowen, trying to ease the tension, said, I didn’t expect you to be here. Heath mentioned you hadn’t visited in days, so I thought our paths wouldn’t cross.

Aurora’s eyebrow quirked up. Heath told you that?

Elowen nodded, quickly changing the subject. Can I get you something to drink? I’m about to start cooking dinner. What would you like?

As Elowen spoke, the room took on a surreal quality. She seemed to transform into the hostess, while Aurora stood there, appearing like an ungracious guest.

Do you know your way around the kitchen well, Dowen? Aurora tone was probing

Elowen smiled, trying to maintain her composure. Not particularly. I’ve only cooked for Heath a few times since Gloria hasn’t been around to make meals.

Aurora’s gaze sharpened. And Heath never cooked alongside you?

Elowen scoffed lightly, What kind of cooking would you expect from a man? I’m the one taking care of him.

Aurora’s laughter sliced through the air, mocking yet curious.

What’s so amusing?Elowen’s annoyance crept into her voice.

Aurora, her arms folded, scrutinized Elowen with a critical eye. you should know Heath is quite the chef. We’ve cooked together numerous times. Didn’t he mention that to you?

Elowen’s complexion flickered with uncertainty. Before she could formulate a reply, Aurora bypassed her and headed to the kitchen. She pulled out a bell pepper from the fridge and thrust it into Elowen’s hands. After all these days of cooking, you didn’t know Heath despises bell peppers?

Chapter 196

Embarrassment washed over Elowen as she stood in the living room, clutching the plastic bag. The bell pepper slipped from her grasp, bouncing awkwardly before settling near the coffee table, an embodiment of the absurdity of the situation.

Aurora, her face a mask of cool disdain, declared, regardless of your intentions toward Heath, it’s best you abandon any divisive schemes. I, Aurora, am not a pushover.

Elowen’s veneer of calm shattered. Her voice rose, tinged with anger and frustration. Aurora! What do you think you are? Nothing more than Heath’s nameless consort! Throwing tantrums over mere bedwarmers? Heath’s seen countless women. What makes you think he’d

settle for you?

Aurora’s response was swift. She grabbed Elowen’s wrist, forcefully guiding her to the door. Amidst Elowen’s struggles and insults, Aurora’s expression remained unyielding. Your words don’t change the truth. You’re just lurking in Heath’s shadow, nothing more. Heath is not a prize to be claimed.

Elowen, now outside, her hair in disarray and barefoot, with her slippers abandoned inside, stood in stark contrast to her earlier poise, a symbol of her unfulfilled aspirations and thwarted plans.

Aurora scoffed, her voice dripping with derision. Even if I’m just a bed warmer, at least I’m not like you. Despite all your schemes and efforts, Heath doesn’t even spare you a glance!

With a decisive action, Aurora tossed Elowen’s high heels at her feet and slammed the door shut with a resonant bang.

Outside, Elowen’s face flushed with rage. She hurled a few bitter words before reluctantly walking away. The key to Heath’s place was still with her, and she was determined to find another opportunity. In her mind, she schemed to climb into Heath’s bed, believing it impossible for him to remain indifferent.

Inside, Aurora returned to the living room, her slippers shuffling on the floor. She sank into the sofa, but the script on the coffee table couldn’t hold her attention any longer.

Aurora had steadfastly maintained her composure in front of Elowen, refusing to let her see any weakness. She put up a strong front, driving Elowen away with unwavering resolve. However, despite recognizing Elowen’s behavior as mere provocations and part of an act, Aurora couldn’t shake off the effect it had on her.

She was angry. Angry that Elowen had a key to Heath’s place, angry that she had brazenly entered this place, angry that she wore Heath’s slippers, and angry about her insinuations.

Elowen’s words echoed in her mind

that she was nothing more than a nameless consort to Heath.

Indeed, Heath had never explicitly expressed his affection for her. There were countless hints, ambiguous moments, and sweet nothings enough to convince Aurora and everyone else that Heath had feelings for her. She basked in this attention, even knowing deep down that she harbored feelings for Heath.

But Elowen’s confrontational words about her lack of official status with Heath struck a chord. It reminded Aurora of her past desire to stand openly beside Dominic, to have a recognized identity beyond that of a masked assassin lurking in the shadows.

Dominic had given that recognition to Isabella. So, whom would Heath choose to give his recognition to?

What was Aurora’s place in all this?

Was she just another girl in Heath’s eventful life? A passing fancy before he eventually settled down with a legitimate partner, a woman of status capable of fending off others? Was she that woman?

Chapter 196

Aurora knew she shouldn’t doubt Heath’s sincerity. She had seen his kindness towards her over time. But she couldn’t help feeling uneasy, caught in a whirlwind of confusion that lasted from daylight to dusk, until the world outside was brightly lit.

She couldn’t make sense of her tumultuous emotions.

Heath returned after work, reaching for his key, only to find it missing. He used the fingerprint scanner to enter the dark house.

Turning on the entrance light, he noticed one of his slippers on the floor. As he walked into the living room, the warm yellow light revealed a figure sitting on the sofa.

Heath?Aurora asked, remaining silent as Heath approached. He stepped over the other slipper, then kicked something else underfoot a

bell pepper.

The living room looked like a battleground, with a slipper and bell pepper strewn about and Aurora’s script in disarray.

Heath crouched in front of Aurora, gently pulling her into his embrace. Rory, what happened?

Aurora jolted at his touch, the strong scent of Elowen’s perfume on Heath’s clothes assaulting her senses.

Without close contact, how could his shirt have acquired such a strong fragrance?

How close had Elowen been to Heath? Aurora didn’t want to contemplate it.

Elowen might have embraced or kissed Heath. She had the key and wore his slippers, parading around Aurora’s sanctuary as if she owned

  1. it.

The scent of the luxurious perfume now made her feel sick to her stomach.
