Aurora treated her stay as a vacation, relaxing in the hotel until Heath finished his work, then they returned home together.

Upon landing at the airport, Kieran and Heath went directly to the Fairbank Corporation, while Jay picked up Aurora and took her back to the Pendleton residence.

As soon as Aurora entered, she was greeted by a strong scent of herbal medicine. Wrinkling her nose, she walked in and saw Leen.

Leen greeted Aurora, his voice laced with concern. Miss Aurora, you’re finally back. Your grandpa has been ill and mentioning you these past days!

Grandpa is ill?Aurora was startled. She hadn’t bought a new phone yet, having spent her days in the hotel eating and sleeping. She hadn’t expected her grandfather to fall sick.

While talking, she headed to her grandfather’s room. How is he? Is it serious?

The day after the banquet, he fell ill,Leen explained. The doctor said it’s due to overexertion and his poor health. He prescribed several

remedies.

Aurora opened the door to a wave of pungent herbal aroma. The strong smell made it hard for her to keep her eyes open.

Approaching her grandfather’s bed, she saw him sleeping, looking thinner and less vibrant than before.

He sleeps better after taking his medicine,Leen added.

Aurora nodded. You go ahead with your work. I’ll wait here for Grandpa to wake up.

With a nod, Leen left, closing the door quietly behind him.

Aurora sat on the sofa in her grandfather’s room, flipping through a magazine while waiting for him to wake up.

Suddenly, a commotion arose outside. Frowning, Aurora went out to close the door and investigate,

Evelyn stood at the entrance, her voice shrill. Where’s Grandpa? Why can’t I see him if he’s sick? I’m his granddaughter; I should be taking care of him!

Leen, clearly in a difficult position, replied, Miss Evelyn, it’s not that you can’t see your grandpa. He’s been sleeping lightly recently and instructed us not to disturb him unless necessary.

That’s impossible! Even if Grandpa is sick, he wouldn’t refuse to see me! I want to see Grandpa!Evelyn shouted.

Aurora walked out, suggesting, Leen, go check on Grandpa.

Leen looked worriedly at Aurora. Miss Aurora, what about you?

It’s fine, go ahead,Aurora reassured him.

Leen nodded and went back inside.

Evelyn sneered. Hah! I knew it! You and that foolish Leen are conspiring to keep Grandpa away from us!

As a 12

Yes, we are conspiring. We’re not letting you see Grandpa. What can you do about it?Aurora, arms crossed, stood blocking Evelyn’s path.

Move! I want to see Grandpa!Evelyn charged forward, trying to push Aurora aside, but Aurora pushed her back. Evelyn, wearing high heels, stumbled and fell to the ground.

Evelyn, in pain and furious, yelled, Aurora! Are you deaf? Move! I want to see Grandpa!

Aurora looked at her coldly. Evelyn, it seems you’re the one who’s deaf. Didn’t you hear Leen? Grandpa doesn’t want to be disturbed. What are you trying to do by causing such a scene? Prove your concern?

My concern for grandpa needs no proof! I’m just worried about him!Evelyn shouted back.

Aurora scoffed. If you don’t need to prove it, then stop causing a scene here. If you’re worried that Grandpa’s ill health might allow me to take advantage of his shares, don’t bother. First, Grandpa is just recuperating, not critically ill. Second, taking your shares is inevitable, regardless of Grandpa’s health.

Evelyn was speechless, cornered by Aurora’s words.

Her main concern had been to check on her grandfather’s condition. Leen stubbornly refused to let her in, and she had only heard from the servants that he was not seriously ill, just lacking energy.

She worried that if something happened to her grandfather, and Aurora was the only one by his side, wouldn’t Aurora seize the opportunity to take over the shares?
