Chapter 232
No matter how much Zane wailed and protested, Aurora firmly left him in the military camp.
Aurora wasn’t joking; there was no better place for Zane to truly understand the essence of comradery.

Moreover, the film Aurora had chosen for him had a great plot, and if Zane performed well, he might even win awards at film festivals.
Aurora hadn’t seen Vespera for some days. She heard Vespera had injured her hand, and Alaric had been diligently taking her to the hospital for treatments, despite her protests.
Cheryl said that Alaric had now become Vespera’s bodyguard, accompanying her on shopping trips and even carrying her bags, fearful of her getting hurt again.
A week later, Aurora visited the camp to check on the ‘tortured‘ Zane. On the first day, Zane had posted a crying emoji on his Instagram with the caption: “Wanted: My boss for employee exploitation! I protest!”
The comments below were amusing and varied:
Soraya: “Are you okay, Zane?”
Cheryl: “Go for it, future film star!”
Lysander: “Aurora rocks!”
Alaric: “Keep calm and carry on.”
Heath: “I’ve spoken to the instructor.”
Confused, Zane replied: “Why call the instructor?”
Heath: ‘No contact with the outside world during training.”
Zane: “…”
For the following week, Aurora received no messages from Zane; Heath had informed her that the instructor had confiscated his phone.
As soon as Aurora entered Zane’s dormitory, she heard him howling, “I want out! I want to go home! Let me out!”
Seeing Aurora, Zane sat up on his bed, his eyes lighting up yet still whimpering, “Aurora! Let me out!”
Aurora looked at him, unimpressed, “Is it that bad?”
Zane, shocked, retorted, “Is it not?”
Aurora went to pull him up, but he yelled, “Ouch, ouch, don’t touch me!”
Aurora: “Where does it hurt?”

Chapter 232
Zane grimaced. You shouldn’t ask where it hurts… you should ask where it doesn’t…”
Aurora: “Zane, when did I realize you were such a coward?”
“Coward?” Zane bristled, “Is this cowardice? This is cherishing life! Look at these guys, they run with sandbags, stand in the sun for an hout, and do military drills at night. Who could endure that?”
Aurora raised an eyebrow, “Seems like standard training to me.”
Zane was near tears, ‘I can’t talk to you about this! You heartless woman wouldn’t understand! Just tell the instructor I need to go back to filming!”
Aurora shook her head, “No.”
“Why not?” Zane demanded.
Aurora blinked, “Because you’re here to experience comradery, and all you’ve felt so far is hardship and exhaustion. If you go back now, this week’s effort will be wasted.”
“I don’t care! I can’t stay here! I need to get out!” Zane felt like he was losing half his life by staying.
Aurora, frowning, looked at him, “A big man like you can’t handle this much? Train for another week.”
Zane’s face fell, “Why should I? Why don’t you try training for a week and see how tired it is!”
Speechless, Aurora actually knew exactly how exhausting it was. Her own training in the Abyss was more than ten times as grueling. Every training session, every shot fired, had determined whether she would survive her future missions.
“Also, the instructor punishes us with no food if our shooting scores are bad! Try it, and you’ll know how unbearable it is!” Zane cried, adamant about not staying any longer.
It was expected; part of the training often involved fasting to build endurance, cold resistance, and even resilience to physical strain.
“What about those with good scores?” Aurora could only play along with his complaints.
“They get an extra serving of meat!” Zane lamented, having not tasted meat in a week.
In military training, despite the physical demands, the diet was typically basic, comprising steamed buns and pickles, or even wild greens. The purpose was to teach that even without luxuries, one must survive in dire situations.
While they were talking, someone came to call Zane for training: “Zane, time for training!”
Zane, looking miserable, said, “Shooting practice, I don’t want to go.”
Aurora insisted, “…Let’s go have a look.”
She practically dragged Zane to the shooting range. The others, seeing Aurora, a beautiful girl, teased Zane, “Who’s this, bro? Your girlfriend?”
