Chapter 266
Heath has always treated you like a precious gem, afraid you might fall if held too loosely, afraid you might break if held too tightly. How come you’re arguing now?” Vespera teased.
Aurora, tugging at her hair, replied, “We didn’t argue. It’s precisely because we haven’t argued that I’m troubled. I don’t know what I did to upset him. He’s always so aloof it’s unreasonable, and I have no idea how to cheer him up!”
Vespera chuckled and said, “And you still wonder why he’s upset? What kind of man is Heath? The scion of a wealthy family that every socialite in the city dreams of getting close to. Yet, you, you’ve been hiding him like be’s some sort of secret, not even attending the gala with him last year. How could he not be angry?”
Aurora paused, asking, “Are you saying he’s angry because I didn’t attend the gala?”
Vespera replied helplessly, “It’s not just about the gala; it’s because you two haven’t gone public yet. Right now, so many people still think Heath is single!”
Aurora laughed, “So that’s it! Now I know how to make it up to him!”
With that, Aurora grabbed her bag and ran out. Vespera couldn’t even call her back. Aurora dashed to the Fairbank Corp building, marking her first time entering so boldly.
Upon entering the lobby, the receptionist asked, “Hello, may I know who you’re looking for?”
Aurora smiled, “I’m here to see Mr. Heath Fairbank.”
The receptionist looked at Aurora in surprise, asking, “Do you have an appointment?”
Caught off guard, Aurora, who had acted on impulse, had no appointment. She shook her head, “No.”
The receptionist couldn’t help but scoff, her look of disdain clear as she said, “I’m sorry, miss, but you can’t go up without an
appointment.”
Unpleased by the receptionist’s scornful look, Aurora insisted, “Call your CEO. He’ll let me up.”
The receptionist laughed mockingly, “Miss, The CEO is a very busy man. If I had to call him for every woman who wants to see him, I’d
have been fired long ago!”
Aurora raised an eyebrow. What did this mean? Were there really that many women trying to see Heath every day? She was determined to
see Heath now.
Aurora smiled slightly, “Miss, if you don’t make the call, you’ll be fired very soon.”
The receptionist, filing her nails and not even glancing at Aurora, watched as Aurora took out her phone and dialed Kieran, “I’m at the

entrance of the company building, and the receptionist won’t let me in.”
After hanging up, the receptionist looked at Aurora dismissively. But Autora didn’t move, just waited. In less than a minute, the aerator doors opened, and Kieran hurried out. The receptionist immediately stood up, all smiles.
Kieran brushed past her, approaching Aurora, “Miss Aurora, what brings you here?”
Aurora smiled slightly, “I’m here to do business with your boss. It seems I’m too insignificant for the receptionist to recognize, not even willing to make a call.”
“I’m sorry to hear that you were met with such inconvenience at the reception. The CEO is still in a meeting, but I’ll take you up now,”
Kieran said.
Aurora nodded and walked towards the elevator in her high heels.
The receptionist quickly asked, “Who is this woman?”
Kieran glared at her, “What woman? This is the boss of Cheryl! The big boss behind Cheryl! Ignorant!”
The receptionist turned pale with fear. Nowadays, Cheryl was a hot star in the entertainment industry, and her boss was a formidable figure. But how could she have known that this young woman, barely in her twenties, was the boss herself?
Kieran followed Aurora into the elevator, pressing the button for the top floor, and asked, “Miss Aurora, seriously, what brings you here?”
Aurora smiled, “Didn’t I say? To discuss business!”
Kieran was puzzled but knew that catering to her was never wrong. He escorted Aurora into Heath’s office, saying, “The CEO is still in a meeting. Please wait here for a moment.”
Aurora nodded and sat on the sofa in Heath’s office, waiting. Kieran hurried into the meeting room. Heath had been in a foul mood these past few days, venting his frustration on the directors.
Approaching Heath, Kieran whispered, “Boss, Miss Aurora is here.”
Heath was startled, “Who’s here?”
Kieran repeated, “Miss Aurora is here, waiting in your office!”
Heath was somewhat baffled. Aurora had clearly been reluctant to make their relationship public. What was she doing, showing up so openly at his company today?
After listening to his subordinates‘ reports, Heath quickly ended the meeting and headed to his office, asking along the way, “She came in through the front door?”
Kieran nodded, “Yes, I went down to meet her.”

Heath frowned, Did she say why she’s here?”
Kieran nodded again, “She said she’s here to talk business.”
Heath smiled faintly and pushed open the door to his office.
Aurora was nestled on the sofa in his reception area, holding a cup of water. Seeing Heath enter, her eyes lit up, and she put down the cup, running over to hug him around the neck, asking, “Have you finished your meeting?”
Heath nodded, “Yes, I have. What brings you here?”
Aurora pouted, “You didn’t come looking for me, so I had to come to you!”
Heath looked at her with a frown, “When have I not looked for you?”
“No, you haven’t!” Aurora looked aggrieved, “You haven’t called me for three days, and it’s been five days since you last texted me.”
Heath wanted to laugh, asking, “So? You came to coax me?”
Aurora nodded, “Yes, you were ignoring me, so I came to coax you!”
The girl’s eyes, smiling yet filled with a hint of grievance, almost counted the days on her fingers.
Heath wrapped his arms around her slender waist, pulling her closer, “Then, how do you plan to coax me?”
Aurora’s cheeks reddened, she hummed, “Just… just to coax you…”
Heath held her closer, leaning in for a kiss. Her lips were incredibly soft. She had run back in the cold, just drunk some hot water, bringing a full sense of warmth, enticingly warm.
Through the door crack, Aurora could see the assistants and secretaries walking by outside. Her face flushed with color, she pushed Heath, afraid of being seen by those outside. But Heath didn’t let go, instead holding her even tighter.
Aurora could only nestle obediently in his arms, letting him have his way, until Kieran’s knock sounded, calling out, “Boss, Director Mars will be over soon.”
Only then did Aurora push Heath away. He looked at her, her face red and ears burning, cleared his throat, and called out to the door,
“Got it.”
