Although Maxwell didn’t suffer any harm this time, the moment he awoke and didn’t see Aurora by his side, he insisted on leaving the hospital. Madeline, naturally, was displeased. How could her darling son be so entangled with Aurora, that girl seemingly from the nether?

Madeline had intended to storm to the family patriarch in outrage, but to her surprise, Aurora barred them from even stepping foot inside, making Madeline wonder if the old man was on his last breath, given his recent hospitalization.

Aurora, with a frosty demeanor, commanded, “Jay, escort Mrs. Pendleton out! Grandpa, don’t mind her ramblings. It’s nothing.”

Aurora knew well that Maxwell held a precious place in her grandfather’s heart, the sole male heir of the Pendleton lineage, with high

hopes pinned on him to lead the family to global prominence.

Her reluctance to confront Madeline stemmed from Lysander’s emphatic warnings; Her grandfather couldn’t afford any distress. Her only

wish was for his peace and health.

Yet, Madeline, clinging to his legs, screamed, “Dad! I’m not lying! Maxwell’s been in a coma for days after a car accident!”

The chess piece in the patriarch’s hand dropped, its crisp yet jarring sound alarming Aurora, who, fearing for her grandfather’s wellbeing,

reassured, “Grandpa, please, don’t panic. Maxwell… my brother, he’s alright, really…”

“How can he be alright!” Madeline bellowed, “Maxwell’s life hangs in the balance at the hospital after that accident, and you left him there

alone, Aurora, he is your brother, after all!”

“Silence!” Aurora’s roar startled Madeline, who had never seen such a fierce side to Aurora. Always compliant and cautious, Aurora had learned to protect herself, always wearing a mask of sweet smiles. But now, her gaze was sharp, her demeanor icy, as if ready to strike

Madeline dead for another word.

Madeline stood frozen, but Sebastian, undeterred, supported his wife, accusing, “Dad! Aurora has deceived you long enough! She’s after your shares, happy to see us dead, leaving Maxwell uncared for in the hospital!”

The patriarch coughed furiously, well aware Aurora would not commit such acts. Yet, as his family squabbled over shares amidst Maxwell’s crisis, he realized how fragmented his family had become.

Aurora, ignoring the slanders from Sebastian and Madeline, focused solely on calming her grandfather, murmuring, ‘Grandpa, please, don’t be angry or worried. I’ll take you to see him soon. He’s fine, really fine…”

“Dad, you must advocate for Maxwell! Aurora, through some means, caused his accident and left him to die in the hospital. He’s your only grandson; what if something happens to him?” Madeline’s cries went on incessantly.

“Yes, Dad! You can’t fall for her deceit. She’s eyeing those shares of yours!” Sebastian added to the cacophony.

Leen and Little Fish were at the sidelines, tugging at Sebastian and Madeline, incessantly pleading, “Sir, madam, please return home. The

patriarch can’t bear to hear this right now…”

Jay, without hesitation, summoned others to expel the disruptive crowd. The villa, echoing with the cacophony of a marketplace, was filled

with incessant bickering, as if everyone had something to say, causing headaches all around.

The patriarch, fueled by irritation, slammed his cane against the floor, demanding, “Silence! All of you, silence!”

Yet, his voice went unheard, except by Aurora, who soothingly said, “Grandpa, please, don’t be upset. I’ll have them leave, just calm

down…”

Before she could finish, the patriarch, eyes closed, suddenly collapsed, but Aurora, quick to react, caught him, preventing his head from

striking the coffee table.

“Grandpa! Grandpa!” Aurora cried out, but her grandfather lay unconscious on the floor.

This sudden turn of events drew everyone’s attention. The arguments ceased, and all eyes were on the old man, who had unexpectedly

fainted.

‘Father!” Sebastian and Madeline rushed forward.

Aurora, with a stern face, commanded, “Leen! Call an ambulance!”
