Even after Evelyn’s face was marred with a bloody scratch, Aurora’s grip on her throat remained unyielding, as if determined to choke the
life out of her right there and then.
Evelyn’s vision darkened in waves, until a furious roar pierced the air: “Stop!”
Barely opening her eyes towards the door, Evelyn saw Maxwell rushing over. Extending a trembling hand for help, it took Maxwell
considerable effort to pry Aurora’s fingers loose.
Shoved aside, Evelyn coughed violently, as though she had just skirted the edge of death, and cursed, “Aurora! You maniac!”
As Maxwell went to help Aurora up, he asked, “Aurora, what are you doing?”
Aurora shrugged him off with a scoff, “What does it look like? I wanted her dead! All of you, dead! Maxwell, weren’t you in a car accident?
Grandpa was so upset over you, he had a stroke. Why didn’t you die in the hospital?”
A shadow flickered in Maxwell’s eyes. He opened his mouth, but words failed him. Aurora wasn’t entirely wrong in blaming them for
grandpa’s death.
Evelyn, however, would have none of it. She rushed over and shoved Aurora, shouting, “Madwoman! What nonsense are you spouting?”
Maxwell caught Aurora as she stumbled backward, having heard she hadn’t been eating well these days, visibly thinner.
Aurora broke free and slapped Evelyn across the face with all her might, her gaze fixed intensely, “I told you to shut up! Wretch!”
This was the first time Aurora had lashed out in anger, having never uttered a curse at Evelyn despite their long–standing feud, even
managing to call her sister in public. But now, her face twisted with rage, she wished she could hurl the vilest insults at Evelyn.
Hearing the commotion, Jay and Little Fish rushed in. Jay pushed past Maxwell to check on Aurora, asking, “Aurora, are you alright?”
With a cold laugh and a shake of her head, Aurora replied, “I’m fine, still alive.”
Jay suggested, “Let’s go back, get some sleep. We have the funeral procession back to Seaview tomorrow.”
Nodding, Aurora was escorted back to her room by Little Fish, where she was settled down for the night.
The next morning, Aurora woke early, rummaged through her wardrobe for a grey sweater and a black coat, into which Little Fish pinned
a white corsage. Aurora’s eyes welled up as she said, “Let’s go.”
Descending the stairs with Little Fish, Jay, and Leen were waiting below. Together, they drove to the airport.
Sebastian held the urn. The Pendleton family, rarely seen together, boarded the plane in a solemn procession home.

Before the flight, Aurora made calls to Heath and Kieran, both phones turned off, intensifying her unease. Turning to Jay, she said, “When we land, check on Heath’s recent whereabouts. I can’t reach him.”
Jay nodded, and once seated on the plane, Aurora, overwhelmed by fatigue, drifted into sleep, only to be woken by Jay upon their arrival.
Though the old man had lived in the capital city for over three years, his heart remained in Seaview, where he had already purchased a burial plot. The Pendleton family, even just for appearances, proceeded with the burial in Seaview.
After landing, they went straight to the cemetery. Placing the small urn in the ground, Aurora felt a heart–wrenching pain. Having shed
too many tears already, she cried no more.
With the burial rites completed and flowers offered, an exhausted Aurora leaned on Little Fish, murmuring, “Let’s go back. I’m tired.”
Little Fish nodded, supporting Aurora back to the car, and they returned to the house in Seaview.
After catching some much–needed rest, Aurora was jolted awake by her incessantly ringing phone. Answering, she queried, “Jay? Did you
find out where Heath is?”
“He did go to LA, but as soon as he arrived, he left with Eamon, and now his whereabouts are unknown,” Jay explained.
“Alright, book us two tickets to LA. You’re coming with me, Aurora promptly concluded the call.
She had thought Heath was merely away on business, but his sudden disappearance, especially given his constant companionship with Eamon, suggested it was related to the KING organization. Unable to wait any longer, Aurora decided she needed to find Heath, her
greatest pillar of support and hope.
Without bothering to pack, she hastily made her way out and took a taxi to meet Jay at the airport. However, as the taxi veered into increasingly secluded areas, Aurora’s weariness overwhelmed her, and she drifted off to sleep.
Awakening to the shock of cold water splashed on her, Aurora, with her hands bound, could only awkwardly wipe her face, taking deep breaths. It had been years since she’d been treated this way.
‘Aurora! Aurora!” Jay’s voice called from nearby.
With her hands tied in front of her, Aurora fumbled forward, gradually adjusting to the darkness before asking, “Jay?”
“It’s me. Where are we?‘ Jay inquired.
Shaking her head, Aurora replied, “I don’t know. We don’t even know who captured us. With your skills, how did you end up kidnapped
too?”
“I went to the bathroom, smelled something fragrant, and then passed out. Next thing I knew, I was here,” Jay replied helplessly.
Aurora surmised that Evelyn must be behind this. Other than her, who else would be so eager to deal with her so swiftly?

The room’s light suddenly flickered on, causing Aurora to squint uncomfortably before her eyes gradually adjusted to see the person in
front of her, stunned: ‘Eamon?‘
Eamon regarded her with a colder demeanor than when they first met, stating, “The renowned Olivia, we’ve been looking for you for quite
some time!”
Aurora froze. What had Eamon discovered? Did Heath know as well? Was Heath’s silence due to anger towards her?
“What are you talking about?” Aurora faced Eamon, resolved not to admit anything without first speaking to Heath.
“Stop pretending. We’ve even found photos. You are Olivia! What are you scheming by getting close to Heath? And where is he now?”
Eamon pressed coldly.
Confused, Aurora responded, “Where is Heath? How should I know? Isn’t he with you?”
Eamon, almost convinced by Aurora’s act, insisted, “Olivia! Stop pretending! Where is Heath?”
“Eamon! What the hell are you talking about? What happened to Heath?” Aurora’s anxiety escalated into swearing.
“You’re asking me? Weren’t you plotting to stay by his side? After his car accident, someone kidnapped him, and now he’s missing. Wasn’t
that your doing?” Eamon accused loudly.
Aurora was dumbfounded. Heath had an accident? Kidnapped? Now missing? And here Eamon was, having kidnapped her, expecting her to
know Heath’s whereabouts?
At that moment, Aurora almost wished she had been the one to kidnap Heath. At least then, she would know he was safe.
