Me And My Billionaire Husband (Aurora and Heath) novel Chapter 294

Chapter 294

Aurora stamped out the campfire, reclaimed her shirt, tore it into strips, and wrapped them around the wound on his shoulder, temporarily stopping the bleeding.

Exhausted and sweating profusely from her efforts, Aurora had also been injured, having taken a beating from a group of men. But she couldn’t rest.

Though the fire was out, the smoke had already drifted away. If someone saw it and followed, they would be doomed.

Taking a deep breath, Aurora hoisted Heath onto her back and pressed forward. Despite his tall, lean frame, the 6’1man was surprisingly heavy. Even for Aurora, accustomed to carrying weights, he was a burden.

Heath, in a daze, opened his eyes and murmured, Rorylooking at the back of Aurora’s head.

I’m here, Aurora reassured him, pulling him up, I’m here, honey.

Heath passed out again. Aurora had seen the bruises and wounds covering his body when she removed his shirt, not to mention his starvation over the past few days. It was a miracle he had lasted this long.

Aurora dared not stop. Carrying Heath, she staggered forward, marking trees with her dagger so that if Jay and the others found them, they could follow the marks to her.

February in Cambodia was muggy, but as the sun set, the temperature dropped, making the nights cold, especially in the damp forest. Aurora worried about Heath’s wounds becoming infected.

Heath’s consciousness was blurry, barely aware of the girl’s frail silhouette carrying him for what seemed an eternity.

Muttering, Rory, let’s go,Heath barely spoke.

Sniffling, Aurora snapped back fiercely, Shut up!

She had nowhere to run. To her, Heath was her only destination, her only home. Even in death, she wished to stay by his side.

Aurora found it ironically humorous that, in her past life, she was left to wolves in the Cambodian forests. Now, her life had come full circle, back to the

same predicament, seemingly destined.

Yet, feeling Heath’s weight on her back, she plunged her dagger into a tree trunk, marking it once more.

To hell with destiny, she thought. She wasn’t ready to die, She intended to claim Heath, to claim her place by his side, and to live a full life with him.

As she trudged through the dense, damp underbrush, her pants soaked, she misstepped into a void, tumbling down with Heath.

In that split second, Aurora grabbed Heath’s arm, fearing they’d separate. But Heath, unconscious, somehow managed to hold her close as they rolled down the slope.

Bruised by stones, Aurora couldn’t imagine the extent of Heath’s injuries.

Scrambling up, she saw the cuts from branches on Heath’s face and back

Heath!

a ghastly sight. She pulled him up, slapping his face lightly, calling out, Heath!

Heath grimaced, clearly in pain, but did not wake. The wound on his shoulder began to bleed again.

Chapter 294

Aurora once again hoisted him up, half carrying, half dragging him forward. If Heath couldn’t walk out of this forest alive, she wouldn’t leave without him.

As she moved, she ranted, Heath! You proposed, so don’t you dare run away! If you don’t wake up, I’ll drag you through the streets, letting everyone know you’re a heartbreaker!

Heath’s fingers twitched but offered no response. Aurora continued, Once we’re out, you’ll see what an international assassin can do to you!

Heath, thought you were under tight leash? Dare to not marry me, I’ll break your legs!

Once we get out, nobody can stop me. I’m going to give Eamon a beating!

Heath, you womanizer, all you do is sleep! I can’t carry you anymore!

Heath, please, don’t sleep

Heath

All the fierce words and formidable presence she had displayed were, in the end, reduced to the girl’s pleas and grievances. She whispered his name, begging him to wake up.

Even if he were to suddenly lash out at her, calling her a liar and a villain, she would welcome it, just to hear him speak.

But Heath showed no signs of response. Carrying him for a long distance, Aurora finally spotted a dimly visible cave. Her eyes lit up as she carried Heath

inside, finding a somewhat dry spot. She removed her leather jacket to lay it on the ground for Heath to lie on.

His shoulder began to bleed again. Without finding some herbs to stop the bleeding, he would soon lose too much blood before help could arrive. Aurora set

Heath down carefully, then stacked a pile of small branches at the cave’s entrance to conceal his presence, given his current state of defenselessness.

With a pistol tucked into her boot and a knife in handher only means of defenseAurora, dressed in a tightfitting black tank top, bore numerous cuts

from the branches. Yet, she remained utterly vigilant, as if reliving the survival training she had endured in the wilderness.

After scouring the area, Aurora found some medicinal herbs that could stop bleeding and picked some sour fruits that could be eaten after being wiped on

her clothes.

Rushing back, Aurora treated Heath’s wounds. With nothing at hand, she chewed the herbs and applied them to Heath’s injuries to stem the bleeding.

Too exhausted to move, with the night fully set in, she knew venturing out again would mean losing her way back.

Aurora lay down beside Heath, for the first time embracing him as she fell asleep.

She wasn’t afraid of the forest, the wild animals, or even death. Her fear was that this man might never wake up again.

Only by holding him, feeling his warmth and heartbeat, could Aurora find peace.

Outside, the standoff in the forest persisted. Eamon’s bombs had caused heavy casualties to Rudi’s men but hadn’t killed Rudi himself. Hunkered down, Rudi and his remaining men stayed silent, neither negotiating nor emerging.

He could afford to wait; Eamon couldn’t. Every day Heath remained inside added to his peril.

Why hasn’t he used Heath to negotiate with us if he has him?Carly asked.

Maybe he’s already killed Heath, Jasper suggested with a shrug.

Eamon, with a cold stare, retorted, I won’t believe Heath is dead without seeing his body.

0400

Jasper volunteered, Now that they’re weakened, I’ll sneak in tonight to assess. If Aurora and Heath have already fled amidst the chaos, I’ll signal, and we’ll

strike.

Eamon nodded in approval, and Jay raised his hand to join, but Carly glanced at him, saying, I recall your assassination skills were the worst. I’ll go.

Two go, one stays.

Ill stay. It’s not like we’d run,Jay shrugged.

Thus, Jasper and Carly slipped into the stronghold under cover of darkness. After thoroughly searching every building without finding Heath or Aurora, they

wondered if, as Jasper had suggested, the pair had already escaped in the confusion.

After signaling Eamon, KING organization members followed suit. With Jasper and Carly leading, the ensuing fight was almost effortless for Eamon’s well-

trained team. They captured the remaining men easily but found no trace of Rudi, Heath, or Aurora.
