Chapter 301
Aurora was lost in a whirlwind of thoughts as Heath studied the girl before him. With her head bowed in silence, she bore none of the fearless demeanor she
had within the stronghold.
In the tense and quiet atmosphere, Heath’s voice finally broke the silence. His slightly hoarse voice sounded unexpectedly pleasant in the night.
Ive just proposed. Are you planning to run away from our engagement?” he said.
Aurora’s foot, tracing circles on the ground, paused. She lifted her head, her gaze fixed on Heath in bewilderment, and blurted out, “What?”
Heath looked into her eyes with utmost seriousness and said, “I’m merely injured, not crippled. I’ll live a long life. Why run?”
Kieran couldn’t help but let out a snort of laughter, earning a glance from Heath. Kieran immediately silenced himself.
Aurora still didn’t understand. Her mind was in chaos. Wasn’t Heath here to capture her? Then why bring so many people?
Heath felt helpless. The girl standing foolishly before him made him wonder if there really were two Auroras – one, the formidable fighter from the
stronghold, and the other, this gentle, kitten–like creature in front of him.
He sighed, extended his hand, and said, “Rory, come here. Let’s go home.”
Aurora sniffled and rubbed her eyes, asking, “You’re not mad at me anymore?”
Heath looked at her and replied, “Mad at you, yes. But we have a long life ahead of us. I can’t be mad every time you think of running away.”
Aurora suddenly turned to glance at Carly and then at Jay, pinching Jay’s hand so hard he yelped, “Are you crazy?”
Aurora laughed, “I’m not dreaming!”
She turned to Carly, exclaiming, “Carly! I’m not dreaming! He came for me!”
Carly nodded and said, “Stop embarrassing yourself!”
Ignoring her injuries, Aurora hopped over to Heath, her eyes sparkling, “You’re not angry anymore?”
Heath reached out, tidying her messy hair before pulling her into a tight embrace, as if trying to merge her into his being.
His raspy voice whispered in her ear, “I am angry, angry because you never listen.”
Aurora pushed Heath away slightly and, looking down, said, “Stop hugging, I stink.”
Heath, playing along, sniffed her and nodded, “Hmm, indeed very stinky.”
Aurora:
Noticing the blood on her face and body, Heath gently touched her dirty face and asked, ‘Does it hurt?”
Aurora, who had been holding strong for days, suddenly couldn’t bear it anymore. The tough, fearless Aurora melted away with a simple, tender question
from Heath. Tears sprang to her eyes, and with a heavy nasal voice, she whimpered, “It hurts… I’m in so much pain…

Chapter 301
As a crowd watched, Aurora unabashedly threw a tantrum and wept, while Heath patiently soothed her, cradling her like a child and gently patting her back, There, there Rory, let’s go home. No more crying…”
Amidst sobs, Aurora said, T… I’m so tired, haven’t slept in days… I also want fish… I carried you so far… You’re so heavy…”
She seemed to cry out all her unease and grievances, usually stoic, now crying incessantly. Nestled in Heath’s embrace, she wept earnestly, though her words were disjointed and confused.
Heath, ever patient, continued to comfort her, promising fish upon their return and ensuring she’d get some rest, claiming he could carry her for miles if needed.
With tears streaking her face, Aurora asked, “So, you’re not sending me away?”
Heath shook his head, ‘Send you where? Might as well handcuff ourselves together.”
Then… why bring so many people?” Aurora inquired.
Heath glanced at Jasper and the others behind Aurora, stating, “If they hadn’t let you come back with me, I would have had to be unpleasant.”
Jasper: “…”
Jay: “…”
Carly: “…”
The trio, intent on rescue, wore grim expressions, finding themselves in a no–win situation.
Aurora, sniffling, implored, “No fighting, please. They’re not bad people…”
Heath looked at Aurora and said, “We have a lot to talk about. It seems you owe me quite a few explanations.”
Aurora, head bowed, silently nodded in agreement. Heath coughed a few times, struggling to straighten up.
Aurora was alarmed, momentarily forgetting her tears as she supported him, asking, “What’s wrong? What happened?”
Kieran approached, saying, “Miss Aurora, the boss’s injuries haven’t fully healed. Standing any longer could be detrimental.”
Aurora, taken aback, responded, “Then let’s get in the car! We need to find Lysander!”
Kieran and Aurora assisted Heath into the car. Turning to Jasper and the others, Carly waved goodbye with a smile, “Stay safe.”
Aurora’s tears fell once more. Just as she was about to wave back, Jay bounded over, exclaiming, “Hey! I still need to go back to being a bodyguard!”
Jasper gave him a disdainful look, ‘A top assassin’s bodyguard? Isn’t that shameful?‘
Jay pouted, ‘Am I a bodyguard for just anyone? I’m about to be Mrs. Fairbank’s bodyguard!”
Jasper: “…”
So? Still a bodyguard! Is that something to be proud of!

Chapter 301
Jasper and Carly departed in their car, leaving Aurora and her party to head hack as well.
Aurora watched Heath anxiously, fearing he had sustained more serious injuries he wasn’t disclosing.
Heath smiled reassuringly, It’s fine, don’t worry.”
Aurora glared at him, “If you try to send me away again, I’ll really leave you behind! See who’ll carry you for miles then!”
Heath smiled, “You wouldn’t bear to.”
Aurora sneakily glanced at Heath, asking, “Do you remember me carrying you?”
Heath nodded, leaning in to kiss her forehead, “I remember.”
Aurora’s lips curved into a smile, feeling utterly delighted.
Heath continued, ‘I also remember you saying once we got out of the woods, you’d let me marry you.”
Aurora: “…”
He went on, “You said if I didn’t marry you, you’d parade me through the streets.”
Aurora: “…
“Oh, right, you mentioned that once I woke up, you’d tell me anything I wanted to know.”
Aurora: “…”
“You said you love me, twice.”
Aurora: “…”
At this point, Aurora wished she could hide her face in embarrassment. The words she had blurted out in a moment of crisis, without a second thought, now came back to haunt her. Besides, hadn’t Heath been unconscious at that time? Despite his hazy state, how could he remember all that?
Aurora wished for a hole to crawl into, yet, seated in the car, she was far from the ground.
Suddenly, Heath said, ‘Rory, I love you too.”
