Are you okay? Maxwell asked.

Aurora scrambled to her feet, smoothing her hair. “I’m fine, thanks.”

Sophia, eyes blazing, lunged at Aurora, but Maxwell stepped in, shielding Aurora behind him. “Enough! Haven’t you caused enough drama?”

I’m your real sister! And you’re protecting this little tramp instead of me? I’m telling Mom!” Sophia cried, storming off.

Maxwell sighed, rubbing his temples. Turning to Aurora, he said, “Sophia’s young and doesn’t understand. Be patient with her.”

Aurora snorted. “Sorry, can’t do.”

Maxwell blinked, confused. “What did you say?”

“Is Sophia really that young? We’re about the same age. Why should I be patient with her?” Aurora retorted.

“Confronting her won’t do you any good. Everyone in the family spoils her,” Maxwell advised.

“Who knows? Maybe if I kick her out of the Pendleton family, all that affection will be mine,” Aurora said, half-joking.

“Aurora, don’t go too far,” Maxwell warned, a hint of displeasure in his eyes. Aurora was getting too aggressive.

“Too far? We’ll see.” Aurora bent down to help Maxwell pick up some papers, catching a glimpse of the words “Evelyn Media.”

“Evelyn is starting a company?” Aurora inquired.

“No, it’s just a studio under the Pendleton Corporation to help her career,” Maxwell clarified.

‘Evelyn is worth Dad opening a subsidiary for her?” Aurora questioned.

‘Aurora, Evelyn is a top celebrity. Sophia will also enter the entertainment industry eventually. It’s only a matter of time before we open a medía company for them. Besides, it’s not like we’re short on money,” Maxwell reasoned.

Aurora chuckled. “I don’t get these things. I’ll head out.”

As she left, Maxwell watched her retreating figure-long legs, graceful posture, an elegant and captivating silhouette. This wasn’t the timid, voiceless Aurora of the past.

Aurora hailed a cab and headed to the sales office, pondering her lack of favor within the Pendleton family. Maxwell was the future heir of the Pendleton Corporation, Evelyn was a top-tier celebrity, and Sophia was the family princess. They all shone brightly, while Aurora was meek, weak, and virtually unknown-even within her own family.

Now, Sebastian was investing in Evelyn and paving the way for Sophia, but no one cared about Aurora’s future. The only person who had ever asked was Heath.

On a sunny day filled with birdsong, over a game of chess, Heath had casually asked, “What will you major in, Aurora?”

Aurora had given a bitter smile. The only person who cared about her future now wanted nothing to do with her.

She recalled a diary entry where she’d written that she didn’t want to be a star, just a behind-the-scenes agent, helping dream-filled girls transform into more beautiful, confident versions of themselves, guiding them to the pinnacle of life.

Now, that dream seemed pretty good. Having been a top-tier assassin, becoming a top-tier agent seemed like a nice change.

As an assassin, she’d undergone extensive training, even in acting. She wasn’t a mechanical killer; she could easily pose as a fashionable woman, speaking fluent French and dancing gracefully, or as a beggar receiving a few coins from passersby.

She’d seen the rise and fall of many companies and witnessed the brutality of business deals. She knew how to blend into any

environment, any role.

Aurora plotted in her mind-suppress Evelyn, launch a couple of movie stars, start her own company, and gradually accumulate wealth and power. When she was strong enough to confront the Pendleton Corporation, she’d face Isabella Whitmore.

The entertainment industry was a gold mine, and as an agent, she wouldn’t need to be in the spotlight. She could bide her time without alerting Isabella to her face, identical to Olivia’s.

Otherwise, before she could rise, Isabella would have her killed.

This time, she’d be strategic, climbing step by step to the peak, making Isabella kneel at her feet!
