Chapter 49
“Thanks a lot, you two! I’ll treat you to dinner this weekend! Aurora cheerfully agreed.
。 (37)
“Dinner? Heck yeah!” Lysander was over the moon. But then he felt a chill down his spine, turned around, and saw Heath staring at him with icy eyes. He gulped, Ahem… actually, I just remembered, I’ve got plans this weekend. You guys go ahead.”
Aurora couldn’t help but roll her eyes. Was Heath really that petty? Would one more person really eat him out of house and home?
“I’ll treat Heath first then, and we can do yours another time!” Aurora said, considering Lysander had also been a big help.
Lysander’s eyes twitched. Was Aurora trying to get him killed by Heath?
He looked back at Heath’s icy gaze and internally begged for mercy. Why did he have to open his big mouth? Should he agree or not?
Heath just kept staring at him, making Lysander feel like crying. He was still a baby, okay?
Just then, Kieran walked over and whispered something to Heath. Heath paused and asked, “The media knows?”
“Yes, the news just broke. The Whitmore family hasn’t responded yet,” Kieran replied.
“Let’s go, Heath said, then turned to Aurora, “Is your driver here?”
“He’s outside. You go ahead,” Aurora said.
Heath nodded, looking a bit rushed, and left with Kieran.
Aurora said her goodbyes to Lysander and headed back to the Pendleton house. As soon as she walked in, she heard Madeline wailing, “Hubby, you have to stand up for us! Aurora accused me of drugging her and said Sophia had her assaulted! How could we ever do such things?”
Aurora smirked. Talk about playing the victim first.
Little Fish was already waiting at the door. “Miss Aurora, maybe don’t go in? The lady and Sophia got here a few minutes ago and have already tattled. Your father is furious.”
“Where’s Grandpa?” Aurora asked.
‘He is at the ancestral home. He hasn’t been alerted yet, but considering Mr. Leen’s sources, he probably knows,” Little Fish said.
“Let’s go shake things up then,” Aurora said with a smile.
As they entered, Grandpa looked at Aurora and asked, “How was the banquet, Aurora? Have fun?”
His mood was clearly not as good as earlier, probably because he knew about the drama at the Song family’s event.
Aurora gave a polite smile, “It was fun, met some people!”

Chapter 49
…
Grandpa looked into Aurora’s clear eyes, a bit skeptical. After all that fuss, she wasn’t going to complain to him?
“Nothing happened at the banquet, right?’ he probed.
Aurora sighed internally. Could he be any more obvious?
“Well, I did meet Mr. Fairbank, and we’re having dinner this weekend,” she said, deliberately mentioning the dinner.
Grandpa weighed this in his mind. He’d never heard of Heath Fairbank dining with any socialite before. Was he interested in his granddaughter?
“You should thank him properly!” Grandpa said.
“For what?’ Aurora asked.
“For this beautiful dress you’re wearing! You think I’m psychic and sent it to you?” he raised an eyebrow.
“Wait, this dress is from Heath?” Aurora’s eyes widened.
“Yep, he’s got good taste. Fits you perfectly,” Grandpa chuckled.
Only then did Aurora remember Heath’s comment about the dress fitting well. So that’s what he meant?
And when he said she owed him more and more, he was including the dress too?

“Why didn’t you tell me earlier, Grandpa!” Aurora pouted.
“If I told you, would you have worn it?” he laughed.
If he’d told her, she wouldn’t have naively bragged that the dress was from him…
“Alright, I know some of what happened at the banquet. Aren’t you going to tell me?” Grandpa asked.
Aurora looked at her grandpa, who seemed to be casually sipping his tea. But she knew better; one wrong word, and all her efforts today would be for naught.
