“Sir, this is a family matter. Please step aside,” Maxwell said, his face stern.

“But I’m not your family,” Aurora replied, standing behind Heath.

Maxwell: “Aurora…”

“Maxwell, if you want to protect Sophia, then don’t mess with me. I don’t need your kindness or your protection. Just stay away from me,” Aurora said calmly, trying to clear the air.

Before Maxwell could say anything else, the impatient Heath pulled Aurora away.

Once they were out of the backyard, Heath let go of her. Aurora rubbed her wrist and asked, “What brings you here?”

“We had dinner plans,” Heath said.

“I thought that was in a couple of days?” Aurora sighed.

“In a couple of days, I’ll be back in the capital,” Heath said gravely.

Aurora looked up, meeting his dark, obsidian–like eyes staring back at her, like a vortex. She felt a sudden tremor in her heart. She had forgotten that Heath was from the capital and wouldn’t always be in Seaview.

“Oh… so… what do you feel like eating? My treat,” Aurora said, forcing a smile.

Heath looked at her for a full minute without speaking. Feeling uncomfortable under his gaze, Aurora was about to turn away when he gently grabbed her chin.

“Who did this?” His voice was tinged with anger and a hint of caution.

The simple question warmed her heart. “It’s fine, I wasn’t taken advantage of,” Aurora said, lifting her head to smile.

“Any other injuries?” Heath asked.

“No, just wait for me. I’ll go change, and then we can go eat,” Aurora said cheerfully.

Before Heath could reply, she ran back to her room. Closing the door with a ‘bang,‘ she touched her face, tears falling unknowingly.

She didn’t know why, but Heath’s expression and his cautious inquiry made her feel vulnerable. Whether as Olivia or Aurora, she had never received such concern. It was unfamiliar but also something she craved.

After washing her face and tying her hair into a bun, she changed and left her room.

Kieran was waiting at the door. As Aurora and Heath came out, he greeted her with a smile.

Aurora smiled back. Kieran opened the car door for them.

“Where should we eat?” Heath asked.

“How about hot–pot?” Aurora suggested.

“You want it?‘ Heath asked.

“Yeah, why? Aurora said.

“No,” Heath flatly refused.

“Why?” Aurora asked.

“Something light,” Heath said. “Kieran, find a health–conscious porridge place.”

“Alright!” Kieran immediately took out his phone for navigation and drove off.

“Heath, I don’t want porridge!” Aurora rolled her eyes.

“You invited me, so we’re doing what I want,” Heath said.

Resigned, Aurora followed him into the restaurant. Once seated, Heath ordered. Besides porridge, it was all light dishes. Aurora, who had been craving something hearty, clenched her teeth and asked, “Heath, are you getting old?”

“What?” Heath glanced at her.

“Only old people need to eat healthily!” Aurora was so frustrated she could’ve chucked a plate across the room.

“Oh, Heath said, not lifting his head, and ordered some dim sum.

When the food arrived, it was all light dishes. Aurora was almost in tears as she swallowed the bland vegetable porridge. “When are you going back to the capital?”

“In a couple of days,‘ Heath said.

“So soon?” Aurora asked.

I originally came for my grandfather’s birthday and to handle some branch office matters. Once that’s done, I have to go back. There’s a lot to do in the capital, Heath explained.

“So, will you come back?” Aurora stirred her porridge with her spoon.

Heath looked up and raised an eyebrow, “Do you want me to?”

His eyes were dark, staring intently at her. Aurora’s heart skipped a beat. She lowered her head, “It’s not for me to decide.”

“You could try to, Heath said.

Aurora looked up, puzzled. What did he mean by try to decide‘?

Seeing her confused expression, Heath picked up some food and placed it on her plate, smiling, “Eat.”

Aurora lowered her head and ate, still puzzled by Heath’s earlier words.

His phone suddenly rang. He picked up a napkin and wiped his mouth leisurely before answering, “Go on.”

“Handle it according to the contract’s breach clauses, and send the details to the Whitmores,” Heath said.

Something was said on the other end, and Heath’s face showed a hint of impatience, “No need, you handle all the follow–up. If the Whitmores calls, say I’m not available.”

He hung up. Aurora raised an eyebrow, “Trouble with the Whitmores?”

“They leaked business information yesterday, suspected of breach of contract,” Heath said briefly.

Aurora felt a slight stir in her heart. After the banquet ended yesterday, Kieran had mentioned something about the media to Heath, who had left in a hurry. Today, the Whitmores was suspected of breaching the contract. It seemed that Jasper and Carly had succeeded.
