Aurora could still hear Little Fish yelling her name, but it was like she was underwater. Her head was spinning and her legs felt like jelly. Then everything went black.

Hearing Little Fish’s cries, Grandpa and Leen rushed downstairs, only to find Aurora lying unconscious on the floor.

Outside, Maxwell was about to drive Sophia home when he heard the commotion and came inside.

Everyone hurried to help Aurora up. Sophia stood to the side, arms crossed, and said, “What’s her deal now? She was all fierce just a moment ago, and now she’s passed out?”

“Miss Sophia, what did you do to Miss Aurora? Every time she runs into you, something bad happens!” Little Fish accused, her eyes red.

“Nonsense! What could I have possibly done to her? She’s the one who-”

“Shut up!” Maxwell cut her off sharply.

“Big brother! You’re taking her side?” Sophia stomped her foot in frustration.

“Enough! Sophia, go back to your place and stay away from the old house! And stop bothering Aurora!” the old man banged his cane on the floor angrily.

“Grandpa!” Sophia whined.

“Leen, escort her back and tell Madeline to keep her daughter in check,” Grandpa ordered.

Leen opened the door for Sophia and said, “Miss Sophia, please leave.”

Sophia shot Little Fish a resentful look before turning to leave.

Little Fish turned to Grandpa, “What should we do? It’s pouring outside. Should we take her to the hospital?”

Grandpa, having sent Sophia away, sighed in relief, “Maxwell, carry Aurora back to her room. I’ll call the doctor. Little Fish, find some clean clothes for Aurora.”

Maxwell hesitated for a moment before lifting Aurora into his arms. She felt lighter than he remembered, almost as if she were floating.

At that moment, her eyes were closed, her usually sharp features softened, making her look vulnerable as she nestled in his arms.

Little Fish led the way to Aurora’s room. Maxwell carefully laid her on the bed and stared at her for a while before leaving.

Little Fish fetched a clean set of pajamas for Aurora and called Maxwell back in to help change the damp sheets. Once they had settled Aurora back in bed, Little Fish began to towel dry her wet hair.

“Maxwell, if you have nothing else to do, you should leave. I can take care of Miss Aurora, Little Fish said, clearly not fond of Madeline’s

children.

“I’ll wait for the doctor,” Maxwell replied, sitting beside the bed. He looked at Aurora’s furrowed brow and asked, “What does she do every

“Your grandpa said she’s free to come and go as she pleases. If she doesn’t want to talk about it, we don’t ask,” Little Fish replied, her tone subdued.

“Try to talk some sense into her. We’re all family,” Maxwell said.

“Maxwell, I’m just a servant. If Miss Aurora wants to kill someone, I’d hand her the knife. You should keep an eye on your precious sister and stop bullying our Aurora,” Little Fish retorted.

Before Maxwell could respond, there was a knock on the door. Little Fish opened it and exclaimed, “Dr. Lysander?”

“I’m here to check on Miss Aurora,” Lysander Fane entered.

Little Fish had seen Lysander a few times with Aurora. He was charming and knew how to make girls happy, so they had become somewhat familiar.

“Please come in, Dr. Lysander,” Little Fish stepped aside, glancing at Maxwell, who stood up to make way.

Grandpa and Leen followed, standing by the bed as Lysander examined Aurora. After checking her temperature and blood pressure, he finally sighed in relief, “Don’t worry, she’s just stressed and overexerted herself. Plus, she got caught in the rain. Some medication and a good night’s sleep should do the trick.”

Grandpa smiled, “As long as she’s fine, that’s all that matters.”

Leen instructed Little Fish, “Get some hot water so Miss Aurora can take her medicine. Make sure she stays warm tonight.”

Little Fish and Leen busied themselves with caring for Aurora, while Grandpa led Maxwell and Lysander downstairs to chat in the living

room.

“Lysander, thank you for coming all this way in the rain,” Grandpa said.

“It’s my duty as a doctor, especially when it’s Miss Aurora who’s sick,” Lysander replied with a smile.

Grandpa caught the hidden meaning in Lysander’s words and chuckled, “Aurora is fortunate to have a friend like you.”

“If Heath found out I didn’t come to treat Aurora, my hospital would be done for,” Lysander joked.

Grandpa sensed Heath Fairbank’s deep concern for Aurora.

Maxwell remained silent for a long time before finally speaking, Heath is too busy to waste time on a little girl like Aurora.

‘Aurora is no little girl‘ in Heath’s eyes,‘ Lysander corrected.

Grandpa laughed, “Exactly, Aurora is an adult now, especially after her high school exams. We can’t keep treating her like a little girl.”

“You’re right,” Lysander agreed, humoring the old man.

After some more small talk, Lysander excused himself. Grandpa went upstairs to check on Aurora, leaving Maxwell to see the guest out.

As they reached the door, Maxwell asked, “What are Heath’s intentions towards Aurora?

Lysander chuckled, “Heath is a complex man. You should ask him directly. But from what I see, it’s pretty straightforward, Can’t you tell?”

Maxwell frowned, “Aurora is too young. Heath is much older than her.”

Lysander adjusted his gold–rimmed glasses, “Heath is only 23, five years older than Aurora. Is that really a big deal?”

“In any case, they’re not a good match,” Maxwell said, recalling the day Heath took Aurora away from him, filling him with unease.

Lysander’s playful demeanor vanished, “Whether they’re a good match or not is their business, and your grandpa’s business. You, as a half- brother, are overstepping.”

Before Maxwell could reply, Lysander got into his car. As the window rolled down, he added, “Besides, if Heath thinks they’re a good match, no one can stop him.”

Lysander drove off, leaving Maxwell standing outside, lost in thought for a long time before heading back into the villa.
