Cheryl paused for a moment, then burst into laughter. She pulled off her hoop skirt and yanked off her wig. Only then did Aurora see that Cheryl was a short–haired girl.

After removing her heavy stage makeup, her features carried a hint of tomboyish charm, yet she looked adorably naive when she smiled.

Cheryl changed into her school uniform and came out to ask her, “School’s out. Ready to go?”

Aurora nodded. Cheryl walked over, hooked her arm around Aurora’s, and they headed out with their backpacks.

Aurora was a slow–to–warm–up kind of person. Years of being an assassin had made her accustomed to loneliness and caution. But meeting Cheryl today, she found her personality irresistibly likable.

Cheryl was very outgoing, and she found Aurora interesting. She chatted non–stop as they walked.

“Don’t you regret quitting the drama club so impulsively?” Aurora asked her.

“I joined the drama club ‘cause I wanted to try out acting. But honestly, those guys don’t know what they’re doing; it’s kinda lame hanging

with them.”

You like acting?” Aurora became interested.

“Yeah, wanna be a star and make some money to support my mom,” Cheryl said with a smile.

During their conversation, Aurora learned that Cheryl came from a single–parent family and lived only with her mom. She was passionate about acting, had studied various roles, and had even been an extra on many sets.

Earlier on stage, she had practiced that ballet routine for two months, only to have the role snatched by Sophia.

Aurora asked her, “You want to break into showbiz? How about I give you a boost?”

“You? Sure, bring the contract, I’ll sign it now,” Cheryl said.

This straightforward agreement surprised Aurora. “You’re not afraid I’ll sell you out? Signing a contract so hastily?”

Cheryl chuckled, ‘What could a Pendleton heiress get by selling me? But seriously, can you really help me?”

Aurora frowned, “If I can’t boost you, I might as well sell you.”

Cheryl playfully chased after her, and they laughed and joked all the way to the school gate, where the Pendleton family driver was waiting. Aurora pulled Cheryl into the car and asked, “Where do you live? I’ll drop you off first.”

Cheryl gave her address, and Aurora instructed the driver to take her home first.

When they reached the entrance of the residential area, Cheryl invited Aurora in, but she declined, “Some other time. Go have dinner.”

They exchanged numbers and went their separate ways.

Perhaps because Aurora had been sick last time, her grandfather had been furious, and Sophia had been quiet for a while, not bothering

her anymore.

A month later, the first mock exam before the college entrance exam arrived.

Just before class started, the homeroom teacher rushed into the classroom and said, “Aurora, come out with me.”

Aurora got up and followed the teacher to the dean’s office, then asked, “What’s going on, teacher?”

The teacher glanced at her and said, “Aurora, did you write this exam yourself?”

Aurora smiled, “You suspect I cheated?”

The teacher looked disappointed, “Aurora, you’ve been at the bottom of the class for so long, and now you’re suspected of cheating. Do you know that cheating can get you expelled?”

Aurora’s face turned cold, “Teacher, without evidence, how can you accuse me of cheating?”

“Do we need evidence? You’ve been at the bottom for three years, and now you suddenly score first in the whole school. That’s definitely cheating!” The teacher was hopping mad.

Aurora raised an eyebrow, “First in the whole school? Not bad, huh?”

The dean and the principal were both there. They calmed the teacher down and said, “Aurora, this is serious. If you can’t prove that you earned this score, we’ll have to treat it as cheating.”

Aurora nodded, “I can prove it. We have A and B versions of the mock exam, right? Give me a different set, and I’ll do it now.”

The teacher looked at the principal, who nodded. The dean immediately fetched another set of papers, and Aurora sat down to take the

test.

Just for this test, they only brought a math paper.

Aurora solved the problems at a speed comparable to a computer. Her unique memory had been honed during her time as a spy, trained by the Abyss.

These math problems were a piece of cake compared to the training she had received in her past life.

In just half an hour, Aurora put down her pen and said, “Done.”

The teacher checked her answers one by one, his face turning redder and redder. Finally, he looked at Aurora incredulously and asked, “How is this possible…”

Aurora smiled, “Teacher, if you dig around for some gossip among the wealthy families, you’ll find out that I was almost turned into an idiot by my stepmother’s drugs. I’m cured now, so I’m not stupid anymore.”

The teacher was embarrassed… You’re not just ‘not stupid,‘ you’re a genius!

Aurora said, “If the teachers have no more doubts about my score, I’ll go back to the classroom. If you still suspect me of cheating, I’m open to further testing.”

After Aurora left, the teacher jumped up in excitement, hugging the dean’s shoulders and bragging loudly, “See? My student! A genius!”

If he could produce a top scorer in the college entrance exam, promotion and a raise would be a sure thing.

And it would be a top scorer from the Pendleton family, no less. Grandpa would surely reward him handsomely.

The teacher walked back into the classroom with a radiant face, cleared his throat, and said, “Class, the results of this mock exam are out.

I’ll announce the top five scores now.”

After announcing the scores, Sophia clenched her teeth. Her mood had been messed up by Aurora lately, and Ethan wasn’t as enthusiastic about her as before. Plus, drama club rehearsals had taken up some of her time. This time, she didn’t even make it into the top five.

Some girls in the class who didn’t like Sophia dared to ask, “Wasn’t the school beauty always in the top five? What’s her rank this time?”

The teacher glanced at the score sheet and said, “Twelfth.”

A few girls snickered quietly. Sophia wasn’t even in the top ten.

Sophia turned her head and glared at the girls.

Catching sight of Aurora sitting unconcernedly at the back, Sophia asked, “Teacher, what rank is my sister?”

The whole class fell silent. They might praise Aurora’s looks, but that couldn’t change her bottom–of–the–barrel grades. Everyone knew she

must be last.

Mingyoo stood up to break the awkward silence, “The teacher only announced from second to fifth place. What about first place?”

The teacher cleared his throat and said, “First place, Aurora.”
