Chapter 73
:
As Aurora had put it, ever since she returned to school, she’d completely stolen Sophia’s spotlight.
People even started threads on the school forum, urging their fellow students to vote for a new “school beauty. Sophia was utterly ignored.
41
On top of that, Aurora consistently ranked first in mock exams, while Sophia’s grades plummeted. Many guys started to openly confess to Aurora, calling her their ‘queen of academics.”
Sophia returned home in a rage, smashing things. No matter how Madeline tried to soothe her, she was losing patience with Sophia.
Now, her grandpa was treating Aurora like his prized possession, even arranging a driver for her daily commute. Sophia was restricted at every turn, unable to mess with her.
Aurora was living the good life, spending her days at the old mansion, waiting for the exams to end so she could go hang out with Heath in the capital.
She lay on her bed, flipping through some files from Harmony Media, bored out of her mind.
Harmony Media had been promoting Evelyn, elevating her to the status of a top–tier actress. With the Pendleton family’s influence, she was getting all the best resources.
Looking at Evelyn’s photos, Aurora smacked her lips. She had to admit, Evelyn was pretty. She had inherited the best genes from both Madeline and Sebastian, looking much better than Sophia.
“Ding–ding“-her phone rang. It was Heath Fairbank.
Since he’d returned to the capital, he’d only called her a few times. If he didn’t call, she didn’t either. Sometimes they’d exchange a few messages on Instragram before he’d disappear, seemingly always busy.
“Hello?” Aurora answered.
‘Aurora, Heath’s charming voice came through.
Aurora shivered. ‘Heath, can you not?”
“What did I do?” Heath chuckled.
“Why are you being so cheesy?” Aurora retorted.
‘Because I’m special, Heath replied.
‘Special how?” Aurora laughed.
“Special in your heart, Heath said.
“Bullshit!” Aurora roared,

Chapter 73
:
On the other end, Kieran trembled. So, the boss likes this kind of girl?
“Aurora, no swearing, Heath calmly coaxed her.
‘I did swear. What are you gonna do about it? Aurora taunted.
“Alright, Heath said.
Aurora: “…”

Suddenly recalling the day he’d kissed her against the door, Aurora’s face flushed red.
Damn you!
“Aurora, the college entrance exams are in ten days, Heath said.
“I know, I’ll get into the Imperial University,” Aurora sighed.
She’d said it many times, but her grandfather didn’t believe her.
“What I mean is, focus on your studies, Heath clarified.
“Huh?” Aurora was confused. Why was Heath talking about this out of the blue?
“If anyone else fills a classroom with balloons and roses to confess to you, I’ll tear down the entire building,” Heath patiently explained.
Aurora: “…”
A few days ago, some guys from another class had filled their classroom with balloons and roses, stopping just short of hanging a banner
to confess their love. Aurora had flatly rejected them and had almost forgotten about it until Heath brought it up.
“So you called just for that?” Aurora was exasperated.
“No, I missed you,” Heath said.
Aurora: “…Talk like a normal person, will you?”
There was a pause on the other end, then Heath’s magnetic voice came through again: “I am speaking normally. I really miss you, Aurora.”
Aurora’s face flushed. She hung up and tossed her phone onto the sofa. She couldn’t focus on her files anymore.
Heath looked at his disconnected call and smiled.
Kieran couldn’t help but comment, ‘Sir, are you sure you won’t scare Miss Aurora away like this?”
Heath glanced at him. “You understand women?”
Kieran shook his head immediately. “No!”

Chapter 73
Ten days later, the college entrance exams finally arrived.
For Aurora, high school questions were a piece of cake. She finished her papers early and left the exam hall.
When the results were announced, Aurora topped the list, much to Sophia’s fury. She smashed everything in her room. Why was Aurora
number one?
41
Now the whole city knew that the Pendleton family had a third daughter who was not only beautiful but also the top scorer in the college
entrance exams.
And Sophia was nothing!
Their grandfather was ecstatic and wanted to throw a party to thank Aurora’s teachers. Aurora rolled her eyes. Her ranking had nothing to do with her teachers. Should she thank her demonic instructors from the Abyss instead?
In the end, her grandfather dropped the idea, but the next day, Leen brought her a stock transfer document.
It clearly stated that 5% of the grandfather’s shares were being transferred to Aurora. She’d been thinking about how to acquire shares and take over the Pendleton family.
But when these were handed to her, she remembered her grandfather’s heartfelt words: “When I’m old and gone, you’ll have these shares and dividends. You won’t be bullied.”
In her past life, she didn’t know what family meant. Now, she seemed to understand.
Aurora signed the document with tears in her eyes. Leen left her a copy, warning her to keep it safe from the others.
The school buzzed for days, promoting Aurora as the top scorer. But aside from that, her high school life seemed to have come to an end.
She hadn’t called Heath, and he seemed to have forgotten to call her. She felt a bit disappointed.
Like many students, Aurora let loose this vacation. She told her grandfather she wouldn’t be home for dinner.
She drove to a villa in the western suburbs, where she’d agreed to celebrate with Jasper and others.
As she entered, a huge firework exploded, showering her with colorful ribbons. Three enlarged faces screamed, “Surprise!”
Aurora: “…”
Jay rushed over and pulled her inside. ‘Aurora, you’ll love the surprise we prepared for you!”
Aurora was led into the dining room, where she saw some unidentifiable dishes. “Is my graduation gift… poison?”
Jasper stood behind her, helpless. “We can grill meat in the woods, but cooking? That’s out of question.”
Aurora was speechless. “So what are we eating tonight?”
None of these killers knew how to cook properly.
