Chapter 76
:
After breakfast, Kieran dropped her off at the base of Harmony Media Tower before heading to the Fairbank Corp with Heath.
Staring up at the towering Harmony skyscraper, Aurora grinned. Soon, she’d bring Evelyn crashing down from her high perch.
Walking into Harmony, the receptionist led her into an office.
A short–haired woman sat behind the desk, dressed in a business suit and wearing glasses. She looked sharp and competent.
She glanced up and asked, “Aurora?”
Aurora nodded, “Hi, Manager Winters. I’m the new intern.”
41
Manager Winters, whose full name was Jasmine Winters, was a top agent at Harmony in the early years. She’d been promoted recently and no longer managed talents, except for Evelyn.
In other words, Evelyn’s rise to her current position owed a lot to Winters.
Winters nodded, “Start as an assistant. Go outside and let the secretary find you a seat.”
After Aurora settled into her seat and completed the onboarding process, she followed the secretary to get familiar with the filming procedures. Just then, a commotion erupted at the entrance.
A crowd swarmed around, and out walked Evelyn, draped in a long dress, her face hidden behind oversized sunglasses but her red lips tantalizingly visible.
The door to the photo studio opened, and out walked a fresh–faced actress in a white dress, discussing ad cuts with the photographer.
Aurora recognized her–Yvonne York, another Harmony talent, but one who had never really taken off. Rumor had it that she and Evelyn were friends in name only, with a pretty strained relationship behind the scenes.
Sure enough, Evelyn walked straight up to York and, without a word, slapped her across the face.
The onlookers kept silent. Evelyn had strong connections and a high profile; she was notoriously arrogant in the industry.
“You dare to steal my ad, Yvonne?” Evelyn sneered.
“What do you mean ‘your ad? The company assigned it to me. Why did you slap me?” York retorted, holding her cheek.
“Why do i need a reason to slap you? Let me tell you, don’t even dream about getting top–tier ads. You need to know who the real queen of Harmony is! Evelyn removed her sunglasses, full of arrogance.
“Evelyn, you think you’re so great just because you have connections? I’ll fight you! Humiliated in public, York, a second–tier actress, knew that once Evelyn left, Harmony might start promoting her.
Just as York raised her hand to slap back, the office door burst open, and a voice shouted, “Stop!”
Winters stood at the doorway, “Both of you, get in here!”

Evelyn shot York a disdainful look and sashayed into the office. As she passed Aurora, she paused, smirked, and walked on.
Aurora couldn’t hear what was being said inside the office. Soon after, York ran out crying and retreated to the makeup room.

A coworker gossiped with Aurora, “Evelyn is such a bully. Everyone knows her contract is almost up. She can’t even let others have a few
ads?
Aurora asked, ‘Is York always bullied like this at the company?”
“Yeah, she has no connections, is timid, and doesn’t want to play by the unspoken rules. Of course, the company would prioritize Evelyn. But once she’s gone, who becomes the top actress is anyone’s guess.”
“Totally, there are a few other actresses at the same level as York who can’t wait for Evelyn to leave!”
Everyone was chattering away with Aurora when the office door opened again. Evelyn walked out, clutching her purse. She took a closer look at Aurora and smiled, “My dear sister, if you have any complaints about Harmony, feel free to tell me.”
Then she leaned in, whispering so only the two of them could hear, “I heard you threatened Sophia, planning to avenge your mom? Aurora, know your place. You’re just as lowly as your short–lived mother.”
She walked away laughing, but to everyone else, it looked like a sweet sisterly exchange.
No one knew that Evelyn’s words had cut Aurora like a knife.
The coworkers who had been surrounding Aurora suddenly distanced themselves. They had thought she was just a new, friendly, and pretty intern. Who knew she was Evelyn’s sister? They had been openly badmouthing Evelyn; who knew if Aurora would tattle?
Aurora sighed. Evelyn was on a whole different level compared to Sophia.
That evening, Kieran picked up Aurora from work to take her back to the apartment. “Where’s Heath?” she asked.
“The boss is still at the office. He asked me to take you home first,” Kieran replied.
“Is he always this busy?” Aurora inquired.
“Yeah, he’s the CEO, so he’s always swamped,” Kieran answered.
After dropping Aurora off at the apartment, Kieran headed back to the company.
Gloria had already prepared dinner. She greeted Aurora and left.
Suddenly alone in the large apartment, Aurora felt a bit spooked by the emptiness.
She sat in the living room flipping through magazines, planning to wait for Heath to come home for dinner. Before she knew it, she had fallen asleep on the couch.
When Heath returned, it was already dark. He opened the door to find the living room dimly lit, illuminated only by the outside lights. The curled–up figure on the sofa looked lonely.
He changed into slippers and crouched in front of the sofa. The girl was sleeping soundly, her arm serving as a pillow. Her long eyelashes

were distinct, and her lips were slightly puckered, as if uncomfortable. She raised her hand to rub her face, looking adorably naive.
Heath gently patted Aurora’s cheek. She groggily opened her eyes, saw Heath, sat up, and rubbed her eyes. Her voice was raspy, “You’re
back?”
“Yeah, why didn’t you go to your room to sleep?” Heath stood up to turn on the lights.
“I wanted to wait here for you to have dinner, but I fell asleep,” Aurora got up, washed her face in the bathroom, and peeked out to ask him, “Have you eaten?”
“No, let’s eat,” Heath replied.
Aurora went to the dining room and had dinner with Heath, recounting her encounter with Evelyn at Harmony. Her drowsiness was instantly gone.
Heath looked at the chatty girl in front of him and smiled. She was like a little wife waiting for her husband to come home.
These days, Aurora had been ostracized at Harmony. Everyone kept their distance because she was Evelyn’s sister.
But Winters was making things difficult for her at every turn. If Evelyn hadn’t given Winters a heads–up, would she even dare?

One day, Winters asked Aurora to deliver a gown to Evelyn at the TV station. Aurora was puzzled, “Evelyn has her own assistant. Why do I have to deliver the gown?”
“Is it so hard to deliver a gown to your sister? Besides, she needs it urgently for a show. She’ll be thrilled to see you deliver it,” Winters
tossed the gown at her.
Aurora looked at the pouring rain outside and smiled, “Alright, I’ll go.”
