That evening, they all sat down for a communal hot pot dinner. After the meal, Aurora retreated to her room early.

Heath and Eamon, who hadn’t seen each other in a long time, chatted away into the night. After Lysander and Alaric had left, Eamon followed Heath into the study and asked, “Heath, who exactly is this Miss Aurora?”

Heath looked at him, a bit puzzled, “What do you mean by that?”

“She’s not as simple as she seems, I can tell,” Eamon asserted.

Heath chuckled, “Well, of course. I have a knack for choosing interesting people.”

Eamon was persistent, “Heath, listen to me. There’s something about Aurora Pendleton that’s not straightforward.”

Heath sighed, slightly annoyed, “Eamon, you’re overthinking this.”

Eamon, feeling a bit helpless, switched topics, “I heard you had Kieran looking into Olivia?”

Heath nodded, “Yes, but so far, he’s come up empty–handed. Olivia is like a ghost; there’s absolutely no trace of her.”

Eamon grinned, “Kieran’s intelligence network might be good domestically, but it’s not up to par internationally. Let me handle this.”

Heath looked at him for a moment, then nodded, “Alright, go ahead. And make it quick.”

For some reason, Heath couldn’t shake the feeling that Aurora was somehow connected to all of this. Maybe if he could uncover the truth sooner, he could protect her more effectively.

The next day, Kieran brought Aurora to find Daxton.

In a narrow alley, an elderly woman sat on the steps, hunched over picking vegetables. A young, handsome guy sat next to her, strumming a guitar and singing. –

“Doing the impossible for you.

Learning to play the guitar and write for you.

Losing my sanity for you…”

It was an old song, but when he sang it under the sunlight, it still sounded captivating.

Aurora sat in the car parked by the roadside, watching the mother and son on the steps. Kieran asked, “Miss Aurora, aren’t you getting

out?”

Just as Aurora was about to step out, a few burly men walked over and kicked over the small stall.

Daxton stood up and asked, “What are you doing? I’ve already withdrawn from the competition. What more does he want?”

The leader of the men shoved Daxton aside and arrogantly said, “Our boss wants you to shut up! No singing! You think withdrawing from the competition is enough?”

Daxton’s face turned red with anger, “Why? Just because he’s from the Song family, he can bully people like this?”

The man pushed Daxton to the ground and gave him a hard kick, taunting, “Exactly, we’re bullying you. What are you gonna do about it, you poor loser?”

Daxton’s mother tried to pull him up but was also pushed down. The man grabbed the guitar and smashed it on the ground, breaking it into pieces. Daxton, like a helpless child, started to tear up.

Aurora asked, “Did Heath send those bodyguards?”

Kieran nodded, “Miss Aurora, should we intervene?”

Aurora smiled, “Of course, give them a good beating. Just don’t kill them.”

With a single phone call from Kieran, four men in black suits got out of a car. Daxton thought they were reinforcements for the other side and shielded his mother, staring intently at them.

To his surprise, the men in black kicked the troublemakers to the ground and started beating them up. The men begged for mercy to no avail and yelled, “Do you know who I work for? Do you want to be out of business in the capital?”

Kieran sauntered over, signaled his bodyguards to stop, and gave the man a swift kick. “Who do you think you are, making a scene here?”

The man glared at Kieran and said, “You’ll see!” before limping away with his cronies.

Daxton immediately stood up to thank him, “Thank you, may I know your name, sir?”

Kieran awkwardly scratched his face, “Don’t thank me, I’m not the one helping you.”

He opened the car door and helped Aurora out. It was the first time Daxton had seen such a beautiful girl.

Aurora, wearing a white long dress and her hair flowing down her back, seemed to have hurt her foot and was walking with a slight limp. But she walked up to Daxton under the sunlight, extended her hand, and smiled, “Hi, I’m Aurora.”
