Alaric nodded, “Yeah, half the company is busy with that. Shaw is the hottest singer these days.”

“Can Daxton make a guest appearance?” Aurora inquired.

Alaric nodded again, “I don’t see why not. Just have Daxton meet Shaw and give him a heads–up.”

Aurora hopped back to her room and called Daxton, telling him someone would pick him up tomorrow and bring him to the apartment. Then she went over the work arrangements.

Alaric, munching on sunflower seeds, asked, “Heath, you’re really letting your girl get into showbiz?”

Heath raised an eyebrow, “So?”

Alaric continued, “I mean, she’s got you, a diamond in the rough. Shouldn’t she be getting facials and shopping all day? What’s she hustling for?”

Heath chuckled, “She’s different.”

Alaric asked, “Heard you ran into Thane Fairbank yesterday?”

Heath nodded. Alaric said, “Aren’t you afraid he’ll tell your dad that you’re hiding a woman? Your dad’s been wanting to set you up with some socialites.”

Heath, typing away on his keyboard, replied, “Let him. His time as the heir is almost up.”

Alaric looked concerned, “You’re really gonna go head–to–head with your dad?”

Heath scoffed, “So what if I do? If he dares to touch my people, I’ll send his precious grandson six feet under.”

“My mom says you should come over for dinner sometime,” Alaric added.

“Got it,” Heath agreed.

The next day, Aurora had someone pick up Daxton and bring him to the apartment. After settling him in, she told him he’d be appearing at Shaw’s concert in a few days. Daxton was ecstatic for quite a while before calming down.

Aurora went to school early. Ever since the incident with Sophia, she had regained her reputation as the school’s aloof beauty. She no longer paid attention to the forum debates about the school’s beauty rankings.

Today, Sophia’s first historical drama premiered. As soon as it aired, Ivy stole the spotlight.

One day, as Aurora was aimlessly watching TV at home, the doorbell rang. She ran over to open the door and froze. Standing outside was an older man, dressed in a tailored suit, his beard graying. His face still hinted at the handsomeness of his youth.

Aurora hesitated only for a moment before asking, “Mr. Fairbank?”

From the similar eyebrows and identical gaze, she knew this was Heath’s father.

The man also paused, then said, “Aren’t you going to invite me in?”

Aurora stepped aside, inviting him in. She poured him a glass of water, “I don’t have any coffee or tea, I hope water is okay.”

Mr. Fairbank looked at the glass of water on the coffee table and chuckled sarcastically, “You really think of this place as your home, don’t you?”

Aurora was taken aback. She’d gotten used to talking about ‘home‘ so casually with Heath.

“I apologize for my choice of words,” she said.

Mr. Fairbank continued, “You’re young, but Heath isn’t. There are plenty of socialites in the capital waiting to meet him. I’m getting old and waiting for him to settle down.”

Aurora lowered her head, silent. She didn’t know what to say. She was a nobody, not Heath’s girlfriend, just someone staying here temporarily.

Mr. Fairbank sighed, “Look, Aurora, I was friends with your grandfather. I’ll leave it at that. You’re a smart girl; you know what to do.”

With that, Mr. Fairbank stood up and left.
