In the bedroom, Oliver swung open the safe and retrieved two gleaming golden keys.
"Tomorrow, head over to the second villa on the east side," he instructed. "The butler will show you which lock to open. This key here, it unlocks the basement. Josefina, I’m trusting you with them. You take charge."
Oliver's tone was so earnest, it felt like he was handing her his most prized possessions. Josefina was puzzled, just about to ask what was going on when Oliver pulled her close with a warm chuckle.
"Think of it like a treasure hunt while you’re home these next few days," he said. "Give yourself something to look forward to, okay?"
"Alright, we’ll do it your way," Josefina replied, a gentle smile forming as she nestled into Oliver’s embrace, feeling utterly secure. What truly touched Josefina about Oliver was this very sense of security. It was that feeling which made her willing to spend the rest of her life with him. Under the soft, amber glow of the lamp, Josefina curled up in Oliver’s arms, enveloped in a cocoon of warmth and contentment.
...
The next morning, the Harrison family awoke with a sense of unease after Josefina and Oliver's late return the previous night. Hattie mulled over it, suspecting something might be amiss, but kept her thoughts to herself to avoid worrying her parents.
Grandpa Robert announced, "I haven’t played chess with Brandon in ages. How about your mom and I head over to the Baldwin family for a few days? It'll give us a chance to visit Josie."
Hattie chimed in, "I’ll go too. If Josie needs anything, having her mom nearby would be best."
Emily nodded in agreement, "Hattie’s right. Let’s do that."
Hattie continued, "Let me pack a few things. Mom, Dad, you should grab some clothes too. We’ll head over together in a bit."
