Finley was so mad he felt like jumping right off the stretcher and giving those two chatterboxes a piece of his mind.
The two bodyguards were taken aback; after all, Finley was a close friend of Mr. Oliver, and they had to show respect.
"Finley, please stay put. Is your...um, your backside okay?" one asked, trying to hide a grin.
"What's so funny?" Finley snapped, giving each of them a swift kick.
The movement tugged painfully at his backside, forcing him to lie back down on the stretcher with a groan.
"Get me out of here, now."
The bodyguards, each nursing a sore shin, held back their laughter and got moving.
Finley was itching to give Logan a piece of his mind!
...
The doctor arrived and got to work on Finley, carefully cleaning his wounds, especially the splinters lodged in his skin.
Josefina remarked, "Good thing it's cold out now, and everyone's bundled up."
If it were summer, things would have been much worse.
Oliver emerged from inside, shaking his head. "Finley only had on a pair of jeans, claiming he'd rather look good than feel warm."
Josefina just shook her head in disbelief.
Finley had certainly learned his lesson the hard way.
Oliver shrugged it off. "Let's leave him be. How about we grab some dinner?"
Josefina nodded in agreement, and they headed to the dining area together.
Brandon joined them, mentioning he'd be staying for a couple of days as well.
"Garrett's here, too," he added. "We should have a few rounds later. I've been playing chess with Cole, and my game's been improving fast."
"Oh, really? I'll have to see for myself after dinner," Grandpa Robert chuckled, looking forward to the challenge.
"I won't go easy on you tonight," Brandon vowed with a grin.
The two old friends exchanged knowing smiles, raising their glasses in a toast.
Meanwhile, Hattie was busy serving Josefina, "I only just heard from Linden. Oliver's been making sure you get to eat organic vegetables. He set up a greenhouse at home. From picking to eating, it takes less than five minutes."
