Josefina stormed out of the room, her heels clacking sharply on the polished wooden floor.
"Josie!" Mandy called after her, but it was no use; Josefina was already halfway down the street.
Percy hurried out, hoping to catch a glimpse, but she was long gone.
"What's got into Josie?" Mandy asked softly, worry etched on her face.
"No clue," Percy replied, scratching his head. "But she insisted you stick around and learn. Come on, I'll show you the ropes."
Taking Josefina's instructions to heart, Percy was dedicated to guiding Mandy. Mandy didn't press for more. She knew Josefina had her secrets and respected them enough to leave them be.
Meanwhile, Josefina was weaving through the city traffic, dialing Oliver’s number.
At that moment, Oliver was deep in a meeting. His phone buzzed, stopping him mid-sentence. The executives exchanged confused looks, expecting someone to get an earful.
But Oliver simply picked up, glancing at George, his right-hand man. "Hey, love," Oliver's voice was as gentle as a summer breeze, leaving everyone in the room wide-eyed.
Wait, love? Since when did Oliver have a wife? And why hadn’t they heard? Poor woman, they thought—she must be tough as nails to handle Oliver.
George cleared his throat, drawing attention back to him as Oliver stepped out, phone in hand.
"What? I’m on my way," Oliver's face turned serious. He hung up and hurried to the parking lot to meet Josefina.
Their cars arrived almost together. Oliver quickly jumped out and opened the door for Josefina.
"Josie, slow down a bit," he urged.
"I can't, Oliver, this is urgent," Josefina shot back, grabbing her medical kit and heading straight for the building. Thankfully, she wore sneakers today; they made the quick pace a tad easier.
Before she knew it, Oliver had lifted her into a bridal carry, and she instinctively wrapped her arms around his neck.
"This way's quicker," Oliver said, carrying her and the kit as if they were weightless, moving with purpose.
