Josefina was absolutely loving her plate of spicy, sizzling grilled fish. It was bass, known for its lack of bones, and she couldn’t have been more thrilled.
Oliver was diligently picking the fish meat off the bones and setting it on Josefina’s plate, which she happily devoured with gusto.
“Oliver, you should eat some too. You don’t have to just feed me,” Josefina said, taking a pause between bites.
“I’m not hungry, you enjoy,” Oliver insisted, continuing to place flaky pieces in front of her.
They were halfway through their meal when Alex and Deanna strolled in. Josefina, facing the entrance, spotted them as she chatted with Oliver.
“Well, would you look at that, Alex and Deanna are totally an item!” Josefina remarked with a mischievous grin.
Oliver looked confused. He turned to see Alex and Deanna, who seemed quite cheerful together and undeniably made a charming pair. Whether they were actually a couple, he couldn’t say for sure.
As Josefina’s eyes met Deanna’s from across the room, Deanna subtly tugged on Alex’s sleeve. Alex, still clueless, laughed and asked what was up.
“Ms. Josefina has spotted us,” Deanna whispered quickly, stepping back a bit from Alex.
Alex hadn’t expected to bump into Josefina here. The company wasn’t keen on office romances, and he figured Josefina would likely share that sentiment.
Eventually, Deanna and Alex made their way over to Josefina and Oliver’s table.
“Ms. Josefina, what a surprise running into you here!” Alex greeted with a bright smile.
“What a coincidence! Why don’t you join us?” Josefina suggested warmly.
Deanna and Alex settled down, joining Josefina and Oliver for the meal. Josefina couldn’t help but notice how well-matched Deanna and Alex appeared, her conviction growing stronger as the meal went on.
However, Alex found it hard to savor his meal, nerves getting the better of him. Deanna felt the same, both sitting there awkwardly.
