Miss Josefina: Nobody's Princess novel Chapter 787

Josefina swung by the local bakery to grab some sweets and was surprised to bump into Mandy there. Mandy was with Xavier, which caught Josefina off guard. She wondered if Mandy was oblivious to Xavier's true colors and why she would still choose to be with him.

Playing it cool, Josefina pretended not to know Mandy, paid for her treats, and headed for the door. Just as she was leaving, Mandy called out to her.

“Josefina, hang on a sec, I need to talk to you.”

Josefina turned around, keeping some space between them.

“Please don’t let my parents know about me and Xavier.”

“Relax, I won’t breathe a word. Your life, your choice.”

With Josefina's promise, Mandy felt a weight lift off her shoulders.

“Okay, just keep your promise.”

“Don’t worry, I’m not about to start drama for myself.”

Josefina walked off with her sweets in hand. Mandy watched her go, her expression a mix of emotions.

Xavier stepped out, asking softly, “What were you chatting with her about?”

“I was just worried she'd spill to my folks and cause trouble.”

“Mandy, you’re always one step ahead,” Xavier said, reaching for her hand.

Mandy grinned, “So, about that necklace I wanted, when’s it coming?”

“Right now, I’m kinda strapped for cash.”

“Strapped? You just got a new car! Don’t think you can cut corners just because my family’s having a tough time,” Mandy pouted.

“I just sunk all my money into the car. Give me a couple of days, okay? I’ll sort it out.”

“Fine, I’ll give you a little more time.”

Xavier held Mandy’s hand, “Wanna come over tonight?”

“I think I’ll head back to the dorm. If I’m too easy, you might not value me.”

When she got back, Brandon was already there, beaming.

“Josie, you’re home! How’s school treating you? If you're worn out, make sure you take care of yourself.”

“Hi, Grandpa Brandon. School’s great. I love studying medicine, so it never feels like a chore.”

Josefina sat next to Hattie.

“Josie, have a bowl of Annika’s cherry pie. It’ll do you good,” Hattie suggested.

“Sure thing, Mom.” Josefina stood up, saying politely, “Grandpa Brandon, I’ll have some pie and be right back.”

“Of course, Josie. Go enjoy it.”

With a smile, Josefina headed to the kitchen. The Harrison family’s kitchen was massive, equipped for both Western and Asian cuisine, with a walk-in freezer and a bounty of ingredients.

Annika brought Josefina a warm slice of cherry pie, “Ms. Josefina, Brandon brought over a whole lot of goodies. He said it’s all for you, to help you recharge.”
