Morning.
The sun wasn't quite strong enough to cut through the blackout curtains, leaving the room cloaked in darkness. Josefina moved slightly, feeling every muscle ache, her bones feeling like they were held together by a thread. Last night's events replayed in her mind, making her tense up all over again.
As she reached out to grab her phone, her hand landed on something else. Oliver, just waking up, let out a low groan, his voice a delicious rumble, \"Josie, are you trying to end my lineage?\"
Josefina froze, realizing she'd touched Oliver somewhere she definitely didn't intend to.
\"Hey, Jo, could you hit the light?\" Oliver mumbled. The lamp flicked on, washing them in a cozy yellow glow.
Josefina glanced under the sheets, noting her lack of clothing. Oliver, though a bit tousled, looked annoyingly fresh, as if last night's exhaustion was just a myth.
Finally locating her phone, Josefina saw it was already ten in the morning. She furrowed her brows and nudged Oliver. \"It's ten already. How are you planning on sneaking out without my folks seeing you?\"
Oliver chuckled, pulling the blanket over himself and drawing Josefina closer, their bodies snug together. \"Josie, relax. We're at my place.\"
Josefina: \"…\"
Oliver might have been in high spirits, but Josefina was utterly wiped. Her voice came out raspy. \"You wish. Another day with you and I might actually fall apart. I'm dead tired.\"
She pushed Oliver away, wrapping the blanket around herself as she headed for a shower. Oliver stayed in bed, checking his messages.
Finley had bombarded him with texts. Opening them, Oliver found Finley's usual antics.
\"Oliver, let's grab a drink.\"
\"Wow, ditching me for someone else? Are we even friends, dude?\"
\"Shay asked if I still like her. I don't even know…\"
Oliver couldn't be bothered to read on, getting the gist of it. Without checking the rest, he shot back a text.
Oliver: \"What’s up? Planning to make your love life a Shakespearean tragedy?\"
Finley shot back quickly: \"Oliver, where were you last night? Why didn’t you reply?\"
Oliver: \"I've got a wife, unlike you, lone wolf.\"
