Cash paused for a moment, then broke into a grin. "Now, that's something I can believe."
There was no denying it—his little sis was just too formidable.
"Jane tried poisoning our little sis, but Josie turned the tables and gave Jane a taste of her own medicine," Cash explained.
Alfie burst out laughing. "Going up against Josie? Jane must have had a moment of madness! That's like trying to scratch a diamond with a twig."
"Master, Jane had no clue about the bond little sis shares with you. If she knew, she'd be kicking herself for what she did today," Cash said confidently.
Once Jane realized the true extent of Josefina's strength, she'd definitely regret her actions.
The thought filled Cash with glee, and he couldn't wait to see Jane realize her mistake.
"Master, did you come to Westwood for other reasons too?"
Alfie nodded. "Let's keep it from Josie for now. I don't want her fretting over this."
"Master, you..."
"Zach, just let it go. I don't want this getting out. Your little sis has enough on her plate. When I step back, you'll take the reins of the House of Adams. Remember, no matter who or what it involves, nothing's more important than your little sis, got it?"
Alfie's stern look left Cash with no room for disagreement, not that he had any plans to argue.
"Master, your word is my command. We all adore little sis, and her worries come first, always!"
Alfie nodded, satisfied. "That's what I needed to hear."
…
When Josefina got home, she was surprised to find a red carpet laid out, with her family and staff forming a welcoming line on either side.
As soon as she appeared, they showered her with cheers and confetti, some of which landed in her hair.
The staff all shouted in unison, "Congratulations, Ms. Josefina, on being number one!"
