Sydney flipped open her phone and was instantly bombarded by a flood of notifications and trending topics that left her eyes wide in disbelief.
"Mom, what on earth is happening? Did Josefina stir up trouble again? I had a feeling she was no good!"
"Shush! Just leave it alone!"
Sydney was a whirlwind of emotions, her anger mixing with a growing sense of anxiety. The online buzz had blown the lid off Marina's shady past, detailing how she'd lured Darrick and made off with his money.
And that wasn’t all. Moss had a similar story: after splitting from his first wife, he remarried, only for his new wife to poison Sylvie’s grandma. The poor old lady nearly didn’t make it.
But now, having regained her senses, the grandma's first move was to sever ties with Moss, kick him out, and hit him with legal action. Hunter wasn't far behind, launching a lawsuit against Marina and Xavier as well.
When Marina got wind of this, she was in total shock. In a fit of rage, she dialed up Josefina. "You promised you'd let us off easy! How did it end up like this?"
Josefina, genuinely baffled, replied, "Hunter suing you has nothing to do with me. I didn't sue you."
The realization hit Marina like a ton of bricks, quickly turning to anger. "Josefina, you set us up! You pretended to cut us loose only to sic them on me!"
Josefina remained unfazed. "Do you really think I can control Hunter’s actions?"
Marina was left speechless. Josefina ended the call and blocked her number.
Oliver, soaking up the news on his phone, cast an admiring glance at Josefina.
"My Josie is sharp as a tack."
Josefina, flashing a playful grin, settled into the couch. "Seems like their goal was to get their hands on the wealth of the rich."
Just then, her phone buzzed again. It was Sylvie calling.
