As Josefina walked up, just about to speak, the person turned around, and their eyes met. She was surprised to see Caiden standing by the car.
"After I parked, I realized this car looked a lot like yours, so I came over to check if you were around. I wanted to invite you to dinner," Caiden said.
Josefina was taken aback; bumping into Caiden here was the last thing she expected.
Caiden went on, "Josefina, can I treat you to a meal? I really want to chat about my mom's health."
"Sure," Josefina replied, her curiosity piqued about Sandy's condition.
...
They strolled to a nearby restaurant and snagged a cozy spot by the window.
"My mom's been taking the medicine you gave her for a couple of days, and her sleep has improved a lot. She doesn't feel short of breath anymore, and with better rest, she's more energetic now," Caiden shared.
"Keep her on those meds. After a week, have her take a three-day break, then update me on her progress," Josefina instructed.
"Thank you, Josefina."
"No worries. You paid for the service, so it's my job to help," she replied, smiling.
Caiden cut his steak and placed a piece in front of Josefina, then took her uncut steak and continued slicing it for her.
Josefina was momentarily taken aback by Caiden's thoughtful gesture; it was unexpected.
As Caiden focused on cutting the steak, Josefina opened her mouth to speak but hesitated, unsure of what to say.
Meanwhile, outside in the bushes, a camera was snapping away, capturing the scene.
Once the photos were taken, they were sent out.
At the same time, Oliver, swamped with work, received an anonymous email.
Opening it, he found photos of Josefina and Caiden dining together, laughing and chatting. Caiden was cutting Josefina's steak, and she didn't refuse, making them look like a couple head over heels for each other.
Oliver gripped his pen tightly, feeling his anger bubble up.
He picked up his phone and called Josefina.
Josefina answered swiftly, her voice as melodious and soothing as ever.
