The phone call hit like a bolt from the blue—Rowan had suddenly passed out and was whisked away to the hospital's emergency room. The specifics were still a mystery, and they had to hang tight for the doctor to share some news.

Brandon, caught off guard, jumped to his feet, ready to dash out the door. But then he remembered Josefina was still there. "Josie," he implored, "could you come with me, please?"

"What are you doing here? Who tipped you off?" he snapped.

Sydney, caught between politeness and exasperation, replied, "Dad, Rowan's my husband. He's unwell; of course, I need to be here."

"You still haven't answered my question. How'd you know he was in the hospital? Smells like your handiwork!" Brandon shot back.

Sydney defended herself quickly, "Dad, you've got it all wrong! Dominic and I were on our way to see Rowan. I don't want a divorce. We found out he was in the hospital only when we got there. We rushed over as soon as we heard."

Brandon's tone was icy, "We don't need you here. Go home. Rowan's set on a divorce, so you don't need to be in his life anymore."

Sydney was left speechless.
