Dominic felt a surge of frustration as he scrolled through the online comments. They were all brimming with praise for the rival companies, leaving only harsh criticism for his own.

"Why hasn't this company gone under yet?" one snarky comment read.

"The design team must have some serious cash backing them up," another chimed in.

"Well, it's the Baldwin family's second son we're talking about. With their support, he can afford to squander resources," someone else added.

"Isn't there a firstborn in the Baldwin family? Their leader's judgment must be way off! How can they let this spendthrift of a second son handle R&D?"

"Clearly, you don't get family drama. The second son is from Rowan's second marriage. You know the saying: with a stepmother comes a stepfather."

The chatter only got louder, and soon enough, someone dug up the dirt that Sydney had once been a homewrecker. In no time, the Baldwin family stocks were nosediving.

Dominic slumped back in his chair, his mind racing, when his phone buzzed with a call from Rowan.

"Dominic, it's not that I don't want to help you, but you're just not convincing anyone. You should consider studying abroad instead of running the company."

Dominic's eyes widened in disbelief. "Dad, are you trying to push me out?"

Sending him abroad while Oliver stayed back to manage things? Rowan's plan was crystal clear. Dominic couldn't shake the suspicion that Rowan had orchestrated the whole online smear campaign.

"Dad, did you hire those trolls? You just want me out, don't you?"

Rowan sighed, "It wasn't me. People put two and two together on their own. Dominic, there's no secret that won't eventually come to light. What happened between your mom and me was bound to be exposed. So, step down from the company."

Before Dominic could respond, Rowan hung up. In a fit of rage, Dominic flung his phone across the room. His secretary, startled, quickly backed away and left the office, pretending he saw nothing.

Meanwhile, Rowan was already in Oliver's office, having made that call to Dominic right in front of him.
