Clara crumpled like a dead leaf, tumbling right over the edge of the bed.

She hit the floor with a sickening thud.

A dark pool of blood immediately spread from the back of her head.

The nurse stationed outside rushed in, pressing two fingers to Clara's neck before pulling back in sheer horror. "Miss Lambert... she's gone."

A fleeting look of disappointment crossed Serena's face.

What a pity she had died before the real torture could begin.

Dusting her hands off, Serena sneered. "Wrap her in a sheet and dump her out in the woods."

This bitch deserved to be picked apart by wild dogs, denied any peace in death.

Serena turned on her heel and walked out of the room.

Halfway down the corridor, she spotted a man in a wheelchair rolling toward her.

"What are you doing here?"

Serena demanded aggressively.

A vicious smirk twisted her lips. "You're bound to that wheelchair for the rest of your life because of Clara, yet you still came to visit her?"

Christian pressed his lips together, his voice quiet. "She was my sister. I had a nightmare that something happened to her."

Serena's smirk deepened into a sneer. "Do I need to remind you how your mother died?"

"It wasn't just me. The other three dreamt it too," Christian said, his knuckles turning white as his face paled.

Serena scoffed.

The bitch had just died, and her four brothers all sensed it at the exact same moment.

What a touching display of sibling intuition.

Her voice turned icy. "It seems you have a terribly short memory. Did you forget how you ended up paralyzed? Did you forget how Jules was disfigured? How Ethan was blinded by the smoke? How the youngest retreated into his own mind, traumatized beyond saving?"

Every word was a jagged blade twisting relentlessly into Christian's heart.

That fire had ruined all four of them.

And it was their own sister who had lit the match.
