The library.
The windows were spotless, the lighting bright and inviting.
With the college entrance exams rapidly approaching, the library's study hall was packed every single day.
Sitting beneath a bright lamp, Chase Yardley effortlessly drew the attention of countless onlookers—especially the girls.
No matter how stellar a girl's grades were, there was always a hidden corner in her heart yearning for a perfect romance...
A bolder girl clutched her books and approached Chase's table.
Chase's expression remained aloof and distant. "This seat is taken."
The girl had no choice but to retreat in disappointment, settling for a seat as close by as possible.
A moment later, Clara walked in.
She spotted Chase immediately and strode over, taking the seat right next to him.
The young man, whose demeanor had been completely unapproachable just seconds before, broke into a warm, radiant smile, his eyes reflecting no one else but her.
"Clara, I compiled these foundational exercises for you. Start with these, and ask me if anything doesn't make sense," Chase said softly, sliding a notebook across the table.
Clara opened the notebook. It carried the faint, fresh scent of ink, clearly indicating that the contents had been meticulously hand-written over the past day or two.
Deeply moved, she said softly, "Thank you."
Whether in this life or her past one, she owed Chase a profound debt of gratitude.
She pushed a small gift box from her bag across the table. "For you. A thank-you gift."
Chase's eyes lit up. He eagerly took the gift, unwrapping it with extreme care as if terrified of damaging the box.
Beneath the layers of wrapping lay a sleek fountain pen.
Clara paused. "Is it okay if I share these notes with the others?"
Chase nodded.
These were basic concepts he had mastered a long time ago. If sharing them helped others improve, it was a good thing.
Clara returned to her classroom with the notebook.
There were two evening study sessions every night. She spent the first one being tutored by Chase, and the second one in the classroom catching up on the teachers' lesson plans.
She sat at her desk and placed Chase's notebook in front of Chelsea Zane. "I heard the teacher mention last time that math is your weak spot. If you can bring your math score up, hitting six hundred on this exam shouldn't be hard. Take a look at this notebook and see if it helps you."
Since her rebirth, Chelsea had been the first person to show her genuine kindness.
She was determined to repay that kindness tenfold.
Chelsea didn't take the notebook too seriously at first. Her math was indeed weak, usually hovering around the eighty or ninety-point mark. But Clara's math was notoriously worse, and she was currently grinding through freshman-level worksheets. Chelsea didn't think a notebook from Clara would actually be much help.
