My eyes widened at the sight of Kael, and for a split second, I didn’t know how to react. Kael Drakenwood standing outside my bedroom in the middle of the night was the last thing I had expected, and worse, he was shirtless.
His toned chest glowed under the dim light, and I couldn’t help but admire how firm they looked. He only had a pair of sweatpants on, and I couldn’t resist the urge to check him out.
My gaze darted downward, and my eyes widened in shock. I could see his bulge penetrating under his pants. My eyes followed his to see he was staring at my perky nipples and a scream tore from my throat.
I tried to slam the door shut so that I could cover up or at least look decent enough when the door slammed on his hands.
He hissed in pain, and my chest tightened. I ran back to grab the robe on the bed and wrapped it around my body.
My throat felt dry after taking a shower, and I thought I could quickly grab a bottle of water in the kitchen. I didn’t bother to cover up since it was past midnight, and I had expected everyone to be asleep by now.
Even if they weren’t, Kael rarely came out of his room when he’s around. It has become a norm for the past few days, which made running into him even more shocking.
Once I was covered, I rushed to the door to see him wincing in pain from how hard the door pressed against his hands.
“I’m so sorry, I didn’t know your hand was there,” I held his hands to examine the damage, and surprisingly, he didn’t pull back.
A sharp winced flashed across his expression as he snapped his eyes shut.
“This doesn’t look good,” I muttered under my breath, but I didn’t think he was listening. His face has turned red from much pain he was in.
“Let me get some ice,” I whispered, pulling him to the kitchen so that I could treat his wound. He followed behind me, his hands still on mine as he grunted in pain.
Once we got to the kitchen, I grabbed a bag of ice and placed it on his hands, which was still resting on mine.
I blew air on his hand to help him feel a bit of relief. I didn’t know how long this went on for, but I noticed he had stopped moving. I lifted my head to see if he was fine, only to see that he had been staring at me.
His eyes bore into mine, searching them for gods knows what, and my breath hitched. I didn’t realize how close we were until now. His hands were still laying on my palm, and I couldn’t help but admire how soft it was
His eyes darted to our hands, and I followed it. For a moment, I wanted to press my hands against his, just to see if they fit
He seemed awfully calm, and I couldn’t tell if that was a good thing or not, but when his eyes met with mine again. I couldn’t bring myself to look away.
He withdrew his hands from mine, and I missed his warmth immediately. Placing the ice bag on the counter, his eyes locked with mine, and I found myself wanting.
He pulled a strand of my hair against my car and my walls clenched. He was so close I could smell the mint mixed with champagne in his breath.
It was so intoxicating I wanted to pull him closer to know what tasted like. My heart slammed against my ribcage, hands itching to touch me, but I didn’t dare make the first move.

His gaze shifted to my lips, and I bit my lower lips unconsciously His eyes darkened, and in that moment, all I wanted was to pull him closer and kiss him.
As if he could read my thoughts, his hands fell to my waist, dragging me closer to close the tiny space between us. My breath hitched, waiting to feel his lips on mine, but before that could happen, a scream tore from the door.
I stumbled backward at the same time my head snapped toward the door to see the cause of the noise. My muscles tensed as a maid stood still, her eyes flickering with confusion.
“W-what do you want?” Kael seemed equally taken back as he stammered lightly.
I picked the ice bag and pretended I was just going to take it away when the maid broke the silence.
“I heard a noise earlier and came to check what was going on,” she looked between Kael and I, a small smile playing at the corner of her lips.
“I…” I looked around for something I could use as an excuse as the maid stood there like some private investigator. “I came here for water.”
I ran out of the kitchen before anyone could make a comment when I realized I didn’t end up taking any water. The maid was still standing there when I returned to grab a bottle of water before rushing back into my room.
My heart pounded so fast that I thought it might explode. I gulped down the water at once as heat rushed to my cheeks.
What just happened between Kael and I? If the maid hadn’t walked in, he would have kissed me. As if that wasn’t enough, the picture of his bulge flashed before my eyes and my pussy wall clenched.
He was…
I didn’t dare to finish the thought. I fanned my face with my hands, suddenly feeling hot under the AC and I just couldn’t stop thinking about how much I wanted it to happen.
I went to bed, hoping I could forget everything, but each time I closed my eyes, Kael’s perfect face was all I could see.
I spent the rest of the night thinking about what happened. I wasn’t delusional enough to think Kael would find me attractive. Maybe it was the effect of the drink?
Once the sun came out, I dashed out of my room to speak to Kal. I knew how stupid it sounded to ask about what happened so maybe I could apologize for hurting his hand?
My heart skipped a beat as I approached his door. I wondered if he would be calm like he was last night. Before I could open the door, a maid came out of his room, and I took a step back.
“I was just about to come get you,” she said with a polite smile and I waited for her to continue. “Alpha is back with Madam Rose. If you’re looking for Kael, he’s having breakfast with them and they requested your presence.”
My stomach curled violently at the mention of our parents. I ha gotten so used to their absence that I didn’t know how to act now that they’re back.
I headed downstairs, and the clattering of plates filled the air bere I even got to the dining table. My mom laughed at something the Alpha said and I inhaled a shaky breath.
I had gotten so comfortable in the house while they were away at I almost forgot she was the reason I was here in the first place.
Her eyes lit up as she listened to whatever the Alpha was saying and I wondered if he was that funny, or she was just overdoing it.
They haven’t noticed my presence yet, and I honestly wished I could turn back before someone would see me. A part of me
