The room went still as Sabrina’s words echoed in the air. Someone was trying to kill Kael? What does that even mean? Kael’s strength was on another level, and challenging him was a death wish, let off trying to kill him.

I wanted to believe that it was one of Sabrina’s bullshit, but from the way her body was shaking violently, I knew it was true.

My breath caught at the thought of Kael getting injured. Without a second thought, I joined the crowd, who seemed just as confused as I was. At this point, I didn’t care if anyone recognized me or not.

If Sabrina’s words were true, Kael was in danger. I pushed my way through the crowd when I noticed how scared Sabrina looked. Her dress was torn just above her chest, leaving a ridiculous amount of cleavage on view.

Her hair was a mess. Breath raged as her hands trembled as if she was still trying to get a grip of herself, but I also didn’t miss how disheveled she looked, as if she was in bed before dashing out

My stomach churned at the thought of Kael making out with her after cutting short whatever we had in his car earlier, but this wasn’t the time to be jealous.

Alpha Zane stepped forward, body tensed, but he tried to remain as calm as he could get.

“Slow down and tell us exactly what happened,” he demanded.

“I… I don’t know,” she stammered. “Everything happened so fast. One moment, Kael and I were just having fun when a few rogues suddenly burst into his room to attack us.”

Her voice was trembling so bad, and if I wasn’t paying attention to what she was saying, I’d have missed it.

Rogues? In the pack house? How was that even possible? The security here was ridiculously tight, and today was double the usual amount because of all the guests, so how could any rogue walk in here without getting caught?

“Rogues in the pack house? Do they have a death wish?”

The guest murmured among themselves, voicing my thoughts.

“There is no way any rogue could walk past that gate without being detected. Heck, those people stink. Anyone here would have easily identified them,” another one pointed.

My heart pounded in my chest as I listened to what everyone was saying, and I couldn’t help but feel something wasn’t right.

“How did you manage to get out? Why isn’t Kael coming down?” Alpha Zane asked, and everyone went quiet.

Sabrina blinked back the tears that blurred her vision as she spoke. “H-he managed to lead them away to protect me… I wouldn’t have been able to run if he hadn’t done that. What if something bad happened to him?”

My stomach dropped at the sound of Kael risking his life to protect Sabrina. What was I expecting? She is his fiancée after

all.

Alpha Zane staggered backward before trying to regain his composure. He turned to the guards who were now standing. waiting for his orders.

“They can’t get away,” he said through gritted teeth. “Find them and protect your future, Alpha.”

The guards began to run at the Alpha

Alpha’s order, heading towards the direction Sabrina had just pointed, while the crowd remained in awe.

A few minutes passed, and everyone helped to search for Kael. ook the opportunity to run after them, knowing no one would notice me in the hideous dress I had on.

The pack healer led Sabrina to a different room to attend to her and I wished at least one of them would be smart enough to ask her questions like what the rogues were wearing. What they looked like if she saw her face, but no one seemed to be thinking right now, and I was too scared to approach Sabrina even though any of this information could help us find those rogues faster.

We went to Kael’s room, and my heart dropped at the sight of the blood stains that covered his wall.

“That… that didn’t belong to him, right?” Someone asked from the crowd, and my heart pounded faster.

I was never one to pray. For the first time in a long time, I prayed to the goddess to keep him safe. I didn’t want to imagine whose blood it was, but I sincerely hope it was Kael that dealt with those bastards.

“Look over there!”

Another person yelled. Our heads snapped towards the direction only to see footprints that were drenched in blood all over. It seemed like he jumped through his window, considering how much blood stain was there and my breath caught.

“Even if it’s just this once, please save him.”

I kept repeating the prayer over and over in my mind as the guards touched the blood to see if they could trace the scent.

“What’s happening? Have you found him?” Alpha Zane asked as he barged into the room. His muscles tensed upon seeing the amount of blood in the room, but he kept his attention on the guard, trying to find him with the blood.

“I’m not sure…”

Alpha Zane didn’t allow him to finish before yanking him away. He touched the blood himself to use his Alpha power, but the moment his body froze, I knew something was wrong.

“A-Alpha?”

One of the guards called out hesitantly, and Alpha Zane shook his head. “I… I can’t seem to trail him,” he inhaled sharply. and I stumbled backward.

“If Alpha can’t trail him, that means…”

“Find him!” Alpha Zane snapped before the person could finish is words. “Take everyone with you. Search through the woods. Everywhere! Kael must be found.”

Everyone began to run around, searching every corner of the park house and the neighborhood.

“They couldn’t have gone far! Follow the footsteps!”

My body shook violently as I watched the guards yell out orders

“Don’t just stand there!!! Nothing can happen to Kael. You have bring him back alive!”

Alpha Zane was starting to lose his shit. He looked scared and en though he was trying so hard not to show any weakness, his hands were trembling so bad.

Mother held his hands, trying to comfort him, but he yanked his hands away as he yelled at the guards.

The search went on for another two hours, and when the guards turned, they all came with the same news. They had no

idea where he was.

“I’m sorry, Alpha. We searched everywhere but it was as if he had suddenly vanished into the woods.”

“That can only mean one thing.” one of the elders said, and Alpha Zane clenched his fist, knowing what was coming.

“If it turns out that Kael was dead, who would become the next pha? He is your only heir.”

I scoffed in disbelief. They haven’t even confirmed that something had happened to him, and they were already discussing

his successor?

Alpha Zane was too shaken to even reply, but seeing how everyone gave up on searching for him, there was only one option

left.

I have to find him by myself.
