I hadn’t stopped grinning since Kael left my room. I tried to get him to tell me where we’d be going, but he wouldn’t talk, which made me more anxious and eager at the same time.

I searched my closet, looking for the perfect outfit to wear, but again, I didn’t know what kind of place he was taking me to or how to dress. Looking through my clothes, I tried everything on, but nothing looked appealing. I heaved out a sigh, already exhausted from the search.

It was times like this that I wished I would often dress up like other girls and spend more time buying hot dresses than just wearing whatever I was comfortable with. My closet was filled with flare dresses that covered most parts of my body or baggy jeans and hideous tops.

I know he probably wouldn’t care about what I wear, but I’ve seen how the women around him dress. They were always in sparkling clothes and wore heavy makeup. Since I can’t compete with them in that, the least I could do was look good for him.

I grabbed my phone from the bed, scrolling through Pinterest for ideas, and I couldn’t help the crawling feeling in the pit of my stomach. If only I had a real friend of my own, she’d have come through for me and helped me figure this out.

Other people who didn’t have friends like me at least have their mothers, but in my case, it’s just me. My mother would kill me before I even get to ask for her help, so I shove away the thought before it could linger.

And if Kael hadn’t told me to be discreet about it, I’d have asked the maids for help, but knowing how they are, they’ll most likely ask me where I was going and gossip about it.

After weighing my options, I figured I was my last option. I kept scrolling on Pinterest when my eyes caught a color combination I have in my closet. A smile crept to my cheeks as I brought out the corset top my father bought for me some time ago. I remembered telling him how I could never wear something like that, but here I was, trying so hard to look appealing for a man.

I paired it with a short skirt I found while I was cleaning up last week, but I couldn’t help but feel exposed. The skirt barely reached my mid-thighs, and the corset top was already a crop top. I pulled out my favorite jacket and put it on top.

Satisfied with my efforts, I applied a lip gloss on my lips and smacked them together. I wished I had makeup products, but since I never fancy them, I released the band in my hair and allowed it to fall on my shoulder.

My heart skipped a beat as I pushed the door open. Everywhere was already dark, and seeing how the lights were off, I bet the maids had gone to sleep, but one can never be too careful.

I took off my heels and tiptoed down the stairs. I followed the back entrance into the garden just like Kael had asked me to. My heart slammed against my ribcage at the thought of getting caught, and I could only breathe when I made it out.

I turned to see if Kael was already here, only to see him standing under the moonlight. As if he felt my presence, he turned around, and our eyes met in an instance.

He looked so fucking hot. The moon casts a soft glow on his face, and I didn’t miss how he was also dressed

Was he trying to impress me too? The thought of Kael putting an effort to look good for me made me blush. His hair was styled back, leaving a strand behind and for a moment, I just wanted to run my hands in it.

He walked towards me as soon as he noticed me. I watched as his muscles flexed beneath his shirt and couldn’t help but admire him. He was so fucking handsome. I couldn’t even blame Sabrina for flaunting him with every given opportunity.

If I had the chance, I’d do worse.

I didn’t wait for him to come to where I stood before I started walking towards him. We met halfway, and for a

moment, I thought he wasn’t going to say anything about my outfit.

He simply stared at me with that stoic face of his, making it hard to know what was going through his head. My insecurity increased, and I wondered if he was like this because he didn’t like my outfit.

Just as I was about telling him to wait here so that I can go change into something else, a smile curved his lips, taking me by surprise.

I stared at him confused, as he spoke. “Who picked your outfit for you?” He asked with a smile and I couldn’t tell if he was trying to compliment or criticize it.

“I did. Why? Should I get changed? I thought it looked good-”

“The color combination is a bit off. Are you trying to blind me?”

My stomach dropped and it took me a moment to sense the humor in his voice. Heat rushed to my cheeks. I spun around, rushing towards the door when he held my waist and bursted into a fit of laughter.

The sound of his laughter sounded rhythmic to the air, and I didn’t want him to stop. He turned me around slowly, his eyes still glistening with the tears from laughing so hard. He placed both hands on my arms, and before I could process what was happening, he took off my jacket slowly.

His gaze dropped to my cleavage, and I felt exposed under his gaze. It was one of the reasons why I wore the jacket in the first place. Kael tosses the jacket on the floor, his eyes never leaving mine.

“You look perfect without it,” he muttered, and I couldn’t help but blush.

I tried to hide my face, but he only chuckled at my reaction. “Were you really going to leave if I hadn’t stopped you?” His voice was laced with amusement as I bit back my smile.

“I thought you didn’t like my outfit,” I confessed.

He held my hands with his eyes boring into mine. “Why wouldn’t I? You look good in everything, and I wish you’ d dress like this more often because you look perfect.”

I pulled away from his hold and began to walk ahead of him. I didn’t want him to see me blushing so hard from his words, and he only chuckled behind me.

He soon caught up and led us outside where his car was already packed. He opened the door for me, and I can’t help but admire this side of him. He soon joined me and hit the road.

The drive was filled with silence, but it wasn’t an awkward one. I enjoyed riding with him so much, watching his muscles flexed against the wheel and how hot he looked when he seemed a bit distracted.

I didn’t know how long he drove for until he pulled up in front of an open field. I stepped out, wondering what we’d do in an empty field by this time of the day. I glanced at him, only to see he was already staring at me.

“Come on, let’s go in.”

He held my hands as we walked side by side, and I couldn’t stop staring at our entwined hands.

We walked into the field to see everywhere dark and silent until I caught a glimpse of a dim light coming out of a tent. My head snapped up to meet Kael’s grin.

“Did you do that?” I gasped in disbelief, and his lips curved into a smile. I didn’t think he’d really put in an effort for us to spend some quality time together and just watching his effort made my heart melt.

The tent was right under the moonlight, and even though it wasn’t supposed to be such a big deal, I couldn’t stop myself from smiling.

I crawled in and my smile widened when I saw all the snacks he had prepared for us. He must have really thought hard to come up with this. How long has he been planning it?

“This is… beautiful,” I muttered, as soon as I stepped out.

He didn’t acknowledge my words. Instead, he pulled off his clothes, leaving him in his brief. My eyes darted around his body, and I couldn’t help but wet my lips.

He jumped into the lake in front of us, and a scream tore out of my throat. I stood at the edge to see if he was fine, but there were no signs of him. My heart raced as I began to panic.

“Kael! Kael!!!” I screamed on top of my lungs, but there was no response. I took off my clothes anxiously, about to jump in, when he brought his head up.

The sound of his chuckle echoed through the air and I inhaled sharply. “What the fuck?”

His body trembled lightly as the water glistened on his body. “Get in here,” he commanded.

“It’s late, I’m not swimming.”

“It’s just us here. No one cares,” he said, but a part of me was still scared about the stunt he pulled. Still grinning. He came up and carried me swiftly in his arms.

I pinched him, trying to get him to release me, when he jumped in. Water splashed all over as we dipped our weight in. I trembled against his body from the cold water.

Kael stared at me, watching me adjust my body in the water, as we burst out laughing. I crossed my legs around his waist, refusing to let go. His eyes bore into mine, as his head inches closer before claiming my lips passionately.
