My Alpha Stepbrother is My Bully (Nevaeh) novel Chapter 81

Chapter 81

Chapter 81

AUTHOR’S POV

Kael’s cold voice ripples through the air, and Sabrina and her minions froze in place. They took a step back, unable to meet with his burning gaze as he lurched forward.

“I asked a question,” he snapped. “What the actual fuck do you think you are doing?”

He looked between Sabrina and her friends who were unable to meet with his eyes. Sabrina stepped away from Nevaeh, brows furrowed for the interruption.

“I heard you the first time,” she grumbled under her breath. “We were just teaching the slut a lesson. No need to get all worked up.”

Kael’s jaw clenched. He glared at Sabrina, daring her to make another move. She scoffed at his reaction before turning to her girls. “Looks like we’re done here.”

She kicked Nevaeh one last time before storming out of the room and her friends trailed behind her. Nevaeh whimpered on the floor, trembling slightly from the pain that coursed through her bone.

Kael’s eyes fell on her trembling form and he leaned closer to help her without à second thought. He tried to help her up, but she slapped his hands away before they could reach her body.

Her eyes glinted with tears as she snapped. “Why won’t you leave me the fuck alone?”

Kael’s hands hung in the air for a moment. A tug of guilt crawled in his chest as he watched her break down. The towel had fallen to her thighs and she didn’t seem to mind anymore. His gaze fell on the bruise in her stomach and he almost touched it, when she flinched at his touch.

The Nevaeh who craves his touch and was always excited to be with him was gone, and he couldn’t even blame her. Gritting hard on his teeth, he took off his jacket to cover her, but she shoved it away before it could even touch her body.

“Haven’t you done enough?” Her lips trembled as she fought to hold back her tears. “Why won’t you just leave me alone? Your plan worked, okay? There’s no need to make me feel even more pathetic. You won so just leave me the fuck alone.”

She pushed herself up, groaning in pain, but she’d rather be with anyone but Kael right now. He held her wrist, stopping her before she got the chance to walk away.

He straightened, eyes locked into hers. His muscles flexed as he restrained himself from telling her the whole truth, but he couldn’t afford to make things worse for her, so he just stood there, staring into her teary eyes, pretending to be unaffected.

“Nevaeh…”

“I hate you!” She spat in his face, shrieking.

Her words were sharp as a blade, cutting deep into his chest. His hands curled into a fist, as he released her hand. “I hate you,” she repeated, her voice barely as a whisper now.

“I know you plan all of this with Sabrina and there’s no point in pretending. How else do you know how to find me?” She shook her head, blinking back the tears that blurred her vision as a sad smile graced her lips.

“At least you were true to yourself when you were bullying me. No need to play all nice now just to humiliate me any further. That is low, even for someone like you.”

Kael’s knuckles turned white from how hard he was clenching it, but he didn’t utter a word. She was already convinced that Kael had something to do with all of this, so what was he supposed to say?

Chapter 81

He was laid back on the field, just watching everyone do their thing when he overheard Sabrina and her friends.

“Did you see her face when she left? She looked like she could cry,” one of them joked and his body tensed. He didn’t need to ask to know the one person Sabrina derives joy in bullying.

He was about to stand up and ask what they were talking about, when one of her friends suggested that they finish what they started. He didn’t exactly know what that meant and he was going to stop them until his coach called him.

He got distracted for a moment, but as soon as he noticed Nevaeh was missing alongside Sabrina and her cliques, he knew she must be in trouble and came to find her.

Seeing her in this state broke something in him, and he wanted to pull her into a hug so badly and just remain there until she was calm, but he didn’t even know the right thing to say to her.

“You have to keep your mouth shut if you really care about her,” a voice reminded him in his head.

Nevaeh waited for him to come up with an excuse, but seeing how quiet he had become infuriated her even more. She scoffed in disbelief as tears rolled down her cheeks.

“Of course, you don’t have anything to say,” she sniffed back her tears, trying to keep her voice controlled, but the more she fights it, the heavier her emotions become.

“How could I be so foolish?” She choked on her tears. Her chest heaved, breath ragged, and she looked like she was about to have a panic attack from the way her body shook violently.

“H-how… how didn’t I see this coming?” She stammered, hitting her chest harshly, as her breath began heavy.

Tears stung her vision as she struggled to draw out a breath. Kael held her hands, pleading for her to breathe.

“Take a deep breath,” he whispers in her ear, holding her in his arms.

“Don’t touch me,” She shoved him away, but somehow, the mere touch from him was enough to calm her.

She hated how her body still responded to his touch even after everything was going on, and just wanted to disappear.

“Give me some time, and I promise to make this right,” he said, holding onto her hands.

She saw a flicker of emotion in his eyes before it disappeared, but she didn’t want to believe anything that came out of his mouth. All he ever does is lie and make her feel pathetic. She was already suffering the consequences of trusting him. She can’t believe a word that comes out of his mouth anymore.

“If you really want to make things right, then what you’ll do is leave me alone,” she whispered. “You’ve done enough already and I didn’t need you to keep ruining my life. I don’t want to see your face or be in the same room with you. By the moon, Kael, I hate you!”

Her last word replayed in her head, and somehow the word shattered her more than it was meant to hurt him. She gave up everything for him. Her dignity. Pride. She was stupid enough to fall into bed with the one person that bullies her and she couldn’t even tell him she hated him without feeling guilty?

Kael’s stomach dropped at her words. He was aware of how much she had been true because of him, but hearing her yell how much she hated him broke something in him.

For the first time since he bonded fully with his wolf, his wolf went silent, and he could sense how hurt he was from Nevaeh’s outburst.

Seeing her in pain felt like a blade was being twisted in his chest. She didn’t know it, but each time she was in pain, he felt it too and that is why he could always find her. He had become more powerful since he fully bonded with his wolf, and so was his sensitivity. He felt everything in more detail, just like he could hear the sound of her fast heartbeat.

She picked her clothes on the floor. Slip them on without caring if he was watching or not. As soon as she finished, she stormed out of the bathroom without sparing him another glance.

The teachers had arranged rooms for them by the time she was done. She went in search of her room and when she finally saw it, her roommates were already there.

All the space had been taken except from a tiny corner where a bold letter was written on the wall.

“SLUT, STAY AWAY!”

A scream tore out of her throat before she even realized what was happening. The door swung open, with Kael bursting in. His eyes followed Nevaeh to see what was written on the wall and his jaw ticked.

He didn’t need anyone to tell him this was all Sabrina’s doing. She was doing too much and he knew he had to put an end to the madness.

He stormed out of the room without a word and Nevaeh couldn’t help but think he had something to do with it. She wondered what he planned to gain in suddenly being two faced when the sarcastic voice in her head spoke again.

“Teasing a lowly omega must have been entertaining. Why else is he always there to watch your reaction?”
