Chapter 109
My Cheating Mate
Jeremy pov
I’d been holding Grace for maybe twenty minutes, marveling at how something so tiny could be so perfect, when the alarms started blaring.
Not hospital alarms. Pack alarms.
The specific pattern made my blood run cold: Perimeter breach. Multiple hostiles. All warriors to defensive positions.
Emma’s eyes went wide. “That’s-
“The hunters.” I was already on my feet, carefully placing Grace in Emma’s arms. “They didn’t wait. They came straight here.”
Dr. Reeves burst into the room. “All patients need to evacuate to the safe rooms. Now.”
“I’m not going to a safe room,” Emma said, already trying to get out of bed despite having given birth an hour ago. “The pack needs-”
“The pack needs you alive and protecting our daughter.” I grabbed her shoulders gently but firmly. “Emma, please. Go to the safe room. Keep Grace safe. That’s the most important thing you can do right now.”
“Jeremy-
”
“Please.” I kissed her forehead, then Grace’s. “I need to know you’re both safe. I can’t fight if I’m worried about you.”
She wanted to argue–I could see it in her eyes. But she looked down at Grace and nodded. “Be careful. Come back to us.”
“I will. I promise.”
I shifted the moment I left the hospital, my wolf bursting forth with protective fury. Someone had attacked our pack. Had threatened my newborn daughter. Had chosen the worst possible time to strike.
They were going to regret it.
Through the mind–link, I could hear Marcus coordinating defenses: *“Eastern perimeter breached. Count twenty hostiles with silver weapons and fire. Western front holding but under pressure. Need reinforcements at the north gate.“*
*“On my way,‘
,“* I responded, running full speed toward the northern position. *“Status of the vampires?“*
*“Already engaging. Lord Castellan deployed his warriors the moment alarms sounded.“*
Thank God. Sixty extra fighters, even if only a portion were warriors, could make the difference.
I reached the north gate to find chaos. Hunters in tactical gear, armed with silver bullets and flamethrowers, pushing against our defensive line. They moved with military precision–trained professionals, not amateur zealots.
One of them spotted me and raised his weapon. I dodged left as silver bullets tore through the space where I’d been standing Rolled, came up beneath his guard, and took him down with claws to the throat.
No hesitation. No mercy. These people had come to kill us. To kill my pack. To threaten my newborn daughter.
*“Jeremy, they’re targeting the hospital!“* My father’s voice through the mind–link. *“Three hunters broke through southern defenses. They’re heading straight for medical.“**
No. No, no, no.
Emma was there. Grace was there. In the safe room, yes, but if hunters reached the hospital–

I ran faster than I’d ever moved, my wolf driven by pure terror. The hospital was a quarter mile away. The hunters had a head start. I might not make it in time-
