Chapter 237
I was angry, seeing it as a betrayal.
I went back to the men and told them we should proceed towards the west wing, where the marriage was taking place.
We made our way there, breaking up into smaller groups for easier movement.
I paused as I caught sight of the entrance to the west wing.
I was confused. If such an important occasion was going on, why was it so unguarded? In short, there wasn’t a single guard in sight.
It’s a trap…
The thought suddenly occurred to me, but the realization came a moment too late.
I suddenly heard the sounds of struggles happening all around and screams of anguish as Tony’s guards surrounded us.
It was clear what was happening; we came here to throw a surprise attack, but instead we walked straight into an ambush.
They were expecting us.
Seeing no way out or back the way we came, I gave the order to charge, and Gerald’s men fought valiantly, some shifting into wolf form.
For my part, I tried my best to stay alive; thanks to my training with Gerald, I was able to defend myself and attack as well, but each time I struck a guard down, I ached because I was killing my own people.
Gerald hadn’t exaggerated when he said these were some of his best fighters, but we were massively outnumbered, and what Tony’s guards lacked in skills and experience they made up for with numbers.

I saw Gerald, top man, facing off against five wolves, but they were pushing him back. Any moment now, he will be trapped between them and a wall, and that would mean certain death.
1 flung one of my blades at one of the wolves attacking him, and it yelped in pain as it buried itself in its neck.
Immediately I raced towards him, unstoppable as I used my human speed coupled with my remaining blade in my hand. Every wolf or

human who came to stop me soon found themselves being stabbed and slashed.
The remaining three wolves attacking him soon saw me rushing towards them, leaving a trail of dead or injured wolves behind me.
They dismissed their prey, who collapsed with relief, and raced to meet me head-on.
As I ran to meet them, I spied a discarded katana sticking out of a dead wolf, and I calculated my chances of getting to it.
I vaulted over the wolves with ease as they reached me, still racing, until I reached the katana.
The wolves turned around and were running backwards towards me. Again I ran towards them.
Go down…
A voice suddenly sounded in my head. I didn’t bother wondering whose voice it was as I obeyed it, going down and sliding forward, passing beneath the wolf in the middle.
My blade shut up and buried itself in its thick fur, slicing the wolf from neck to groin as I slid under it.
One down, two to go…
