My Hidden Identity His Hidden Affair (Sharon) novel Chapter 4

Sharon blinked dazedly, looking up in shock. Her vision was fuzzy, but she could make out a good-looking guy in a suit standing right in front of her. Behind him was a tall, lean man—suit jacket slung over his shoulders, a fedora pulled low over his face, hiding his features. But a powerful, authoritative vibe rolled off him in waves.

He's... definitely someone important.

Sharon glanced around. She'd thought she was huddled in a corner, but it turned out she was right at the parking lot entrance.

"Sorry, I..."

She apologized on instinct and stood up, ready to step out of the way. But suddenly, her head spun, and she stumbled forward, swaying unsteadily.

A strong, solid arm caught her, pulling her tight against a warm chest.

Sharon tried her best to open her eyes, but the intense dizziness pulled her into darkness right away.

"Sir, she passed out. What do we do...?"

"Take her to the hospital."

The man was about to hand her over to his assistant when a gust of wind blew the loose hair off her face. Her delicate, pretty features were suddenly right there, clear as day.

The man stared at her face, his grip tightening sharply. The next second, he lifted her up and strode toward the car, barking out an order.

"Cancel the dinner. Get her to the hospital now."

Sharon had severe anemia. Whenever she got run down, she was prone to blacking out.

When she drifted back to consciousness, she felt clean and refreshed.

The smell of disinfectant hit her nose. She tried to open her eyes, but her whole body felt weak—she couldn't even muster the strength to lift her eyelids.

Then, two familiar voices drifted into her ears.

They cut through her like needles, stabbing her heart instantly and making her go rigid all over.

"Gary," Chloe purred, her voice deliberately lowered. "Can we... ask the doctor to take out her uterus while she's still out cold?"

She paused, her voice softening. "When she wakes up, we'll tell her it was to save her life. Do you think... that'll fly?"

Sharon's fingers curled tight, her eyes still shut as she strained to listen.

Gary's voice was still gentle, calm as ever.

"No, Chloe. That's... too cruel for Sharon."

"Cruel?" Chloe's voice turned tearful right away. "But she's been going on and on about getting pregnant lately. What are we gonna do if this keeps up?

"Mia's growing up, and the one in my belly will be here soon. If... if she has her own baby, there's no way she'll truly care for ours! She'll never adopt them!"

"She has severe anemia. She's never been fit to have kids, I know that for a fact." Gary's voice was confident, like he had everything under control. "You don't have to worry about this."

"But... but we can't count on her miscarrying every single time! What if... she keeps the baby next time?" Chloe sobbed, pressing Gary. "Gary, what about Mia? You can't let my kids be secret bast**ds forever!"

"She can't get pregnant."

"Sharon, Mia's telling the truth. She's so attached to you. She's been going on and on about moving into your place to take care of you until you're fully better. What a sweet bond you two have."

Sharon's fingers, hidden in her sleeves, tightened silently—her nails digging almost into her palm.

"Oh? Mia, you want to move into my house?"

"Yeah!" Mia jumped up excitedly. "Mommy and I will both move in! I'll sing for you, and Mommy cooks super good! We'll be with you every day, fattening you up. Will you let us?"

Sharon's knuckles turned white from the pressure. The little bit of strength holding her together drained away in an instant.

She looked up, her gaze shifting to Gary, who'd been quiet the whole time.

"Gary, what do you think?"

Gary stepped forward, wrapping his warm hand around hers.

"It's really nice of Chloe to offer, and Mia likes you so much. I think it's a good plan. Besides, I've been swamped with work lately."

Sharon forced a weak smile, her voice light as a feather as her nails dug deep into her skin.

"Okay. If you think it's good... then it's good."

It doesn't matter anymore. Only 25 days left.

The house, the guy, the company... take it all.

Chloe, I'll be watching to see if you can handle this "gift" when the time comes.
