My Hidden Identity His Hidden Affair (Sharon) novel Chapter 8

Sophia stared at Sharon, confused out of her mind. She had no clue why Sharon wanted to do something like that.

Before Sharon could explain, the café door swung open. Gary walked in with Chloe in his arms, Mike trailing right behind them.

Sophia's eyes locked right onto Gary's hand draped over Chloe's shoulders and her swollen belly. She leaned in, her voice dropping to a shocked whisper.

"So that bast**d... cheated on you?"

Sharon grabbed her coffee cup and chugged the whole thing in one go. "Yeah. I just found out recently they've been... messing around for ages."

Chloe said, "Honey, my legs are sore."

Gary replied, "It's okay, baby. Let me rub 'em for you."

"Honey, I want some juice."

"Sure thing, baby. I'll feed you."

Mike interrupted, "C'mon, do you two gotta be this mushy in front of a single guy like me? I can't handle it."

Their annoying chatter cut Sharon off mid-sentence. She turned her head, and the little smile on her lips froze solid.

Sophia's gaze was glued to the three of them, her face turning bright red with anger.

"Are you kidding me? What a bunch of shameless je*ks! So he's been cheating on you this whole time, but still acts all lovey-dovey with you in public?"

"Yeah. Surprised?" Sharon finished another cup of coffee, her voice a little rough. "Me too, honestly."

Chloe said sweetly, "Honey, this juice is too cold. Can you warm it up in your mouth first, then feed me?"

Gary replied, "Of course."

Gary took the orange juice, held it in his mouth for a few seconds, then leaned in and kissed Chloe to pass the juice to her—right in front of Mike.

What a pair of sc*mbags.

Mike couldn't bear it. "Whoa! That's crossing the line!

"Chloe, you're such a pro at being cute!"

Mike sat across from them, hyping them up like crazy.

Sophia couldn't hold back any longer. She grabbed the ashtray off the table and was about to bolt over.

"That son of a b*tch Gary! He's walking all over you 'cause he thinks you've got no one to back you up! If he knew you were..."

Sharon pulled her back fast. "Sophia, don't lose your cool."

"How can you stand this? I've seen shameless people, but never this shameless!"

"I can't," Sharon said, lowering her voice on purpose. "But when dogs fight dogs, it's way more fun. Let's hold on a little longer and move somewhere else."

Sharon had always been the calm type.

She and Sophia talked things through all night. They got so riled up that they ended up drinking a ton without even noticing.

When Sharon got home, she slept straight through until the next afternoon. Her head was throbbing a little, so she called Mary to make her a cup of honey water.

Mary brought the honey water and set it on the table. She looked hesitant, like she had something to say but was scared to speak up.

Sharon noticed something was wrong. "Mary, what's the matter?"

Mary sighed softly. "You're just too kind. That's why people take advantage of you."

Sharon smiled. "What makes you say that?"

Mary sat down on the edge of the bed and lowered her voice.

"Mr. Colbert and Ms. Lopez didn't come home last night. They've been sticking together everywhere lately. Aren't you... gonna ask him about it?"

Mary had dropped little hints to Sharon before. But back then, Sharon trusted Gary with all her heart and never thought to question it.

Thinking about how stupid she used to be, Sharon let out a bitter laugh.

She was about to speak when she heard Peggy barking like crazy from the hallway.

Before she could do anything, she saw Mia dragging Peggy in from outside by the leash, choking the dog tight around the neck!

"Woof! Woof!"
