My Husband's Affair My Anniversary Gift (Lily and David) novel Chapter 192

David’s voice softened. “I know. I’m sorry,” he said, his tone low, almost guilty. “But I couldn’t just leave you there, Lily.”

He took a step toward her, but Lily immediately stepped back, her heartbeat picking up again.

“Stay where you are, David,” she said sharply, her voice shaking slightly.

But before she could move any farther, he reached out and pulled her into his arms.

“What are you doing? Let me go!” Lily pushed against his chest, struggling to break free, but David’s arms only tightened around her.

“Calm down,” he said quietly, his breath brushing against her hair. “You’re exhausted. Come on, have something to eat and rest for a while.”

“I said I’m not hungry!” she snapped, still trying to push him away, but he wouldn’t budge. His strength overpowered hers, and in the next moment, he was gently steering her toward the bed.

“David, I mean it, I want to go back to the studio!”

“I’ll take you back later,” he said firmly, his tone leaving no room for argument. “But eat something first.”

He pressed her down to sit on the edge of the bed, ignoring her glare.

Lily stared at him, her chest rising and falling fast, anger flashing in her eyes. “I said I’m not hungry,” she repeated stubbornly, crossing her arms.

David sighed and rubbed his temple in frustration. “If you don’t eat,” he said quietly but seriously, “then forget about stepping out of this room tonight.”

He turned and lifted the food tray from the trolley, placing it in front of her.

Lily stared at him, speechless for a moment. The anger in her chest burned hotter, who did he think he was, ordering her around like that? But she also knew David Hardison never made empty threats. If he said she wouldn’t leave, she really wouldn’t.

So, without saying a word, she snatched the spoon from the tray and began to eat quickly.

“No one’s going to steal your food,” David murmured when he saw how fast she was eating. “Eat slowly.”

Lily shot him a cold look but didn’t reply. She just kept eating quietly, ignoring his presence.

David stood near the table, his gaze fixed on her. There was something soft in his eyes a quiet relief. She had been pushing herself too hard these days, running on little sleep and almost no food. Watching her finally eat made him feel… calmer somehow.

When Lily finally put the spoon down, she let out a long breath. She hadn’t realized how hungry she really was until now.

“Now, I can go, right?” she said, lifting her eyes to him.
