My Husband's Affair My Anniversary Gift (Lily and David) novel Chapter 249

“Where is your boss anyway? I’ve never seen you two separated in all these years.”

Where Jacob went, Riyana went. She was always right behind him. Quiet. Calm. Watching everything.

“He’s at home. He’ll meet us at the location,” Riyana said.

Lily let out a small chuckle. “Finally, he let you breathe a little.”

Then Lily looked out the window again. Her voice dropped, softer but heavy. “You know… I always see my past self in you.”

“And I don’t like it,” she added quietly.

Riyana glanced at her. “Why? You don’t like your past self?”

“I always thought you were brave,” Riyana continued.

“You left everything. Money. Success. You divorced one of the richest men. You started from scratch. And now you’re where you deserve to be.”

Lily didn’t feel proud when she heard that. She didn’t feel brave. Her chest felt tight again.

Because Lily knew something about Riyana that most people didn’t.

Riyana loved Jacob.

Not boldly. Not openly. But Lily had seen it. The way Riyana watched him. The way she worried about him. The way she cared for him without a word.

It was the same way Lily used to look at David years ago. Before everything broke.

Her past was still a wound, and watching Riyana walk the same path felt like staring at her own old scars.

“You don’t even know how much pain, humiliation, ignorance and hate made me the woman I am today,” Lily said in a calm voice. “But let’s not talk about me. You already know enough about my mess. Let’s talk about you. We don’t know when we’ll get this privacy again.”

She looked at Riyana with full attention.

“Riyana, why don’t you just tell him how you feel about him?”

Riyana was so shocked she almost lost control of the car. Lily grabbed the door handle.

“Careful. I don’t want to die today,” Lily said, teasing her.

“Sorry,” Riyana breathed out and steadied the car, driving normally again.

“Don’t worry, I won’t tell Jabco that you like him,” Lily teased again.

Riyana looked at her with wide eyes. Her cheeks were red, and she couldn’t hide how embarrassed she was. Lily lit up at the sight. She had never seen Riyana blush before, not even smile properly.

“Damn, you really love him,” Lily laughed softly.

“I don’t want him to know. And I’m already thinking about quitting this job, so I really don’t want him to find out,” Riyana said. Her voice was small. Lily could hear the pain in it.

Lily leaned back in her seat and let out a long breath.

“Riyana, you know why I hate my past self? Because I loved someone who never appreciated it. I stayed, and stayed, and stayed. Nine years. And now, after seven years of separation, he suddenly says he loves me. Now he’s scared I’ll leave him again.”

Riyana understood exactly who Lily was talking about. She glanced at Lily and then looked back at the road.

“I never confessed anything back then,” Lily continued. “But he knew. Any man knows when a woman stands by him without asking for anything. That only happens when she loves him. But in your case, Jabco doesn’t know a thing. That’s why I’m telling you to confess before you regret it.”
