Chapter 4 My New Determination
Chapter 4 My New Determination
I was barely conscious when the nurse pulled the pain pump off me.
To help myself survive, I jolted awake and grabbed her hand.
I said, “Please! I’m Finn’s wife. I just had surgery. Please don’t take it.”

However, she yanked her hand back, her face full of sarcasm, and said, “Nonsense. If you were really Mrs. Harris, Mr. Harris would never leave you alone here to save another woman.”
The second the pump was gone, the acute pain from my belly and womb hit me like knives carving me up from the inside.
I curled into myself, completely wrecked.
Through the haze, I saw Grace lying in a hospital bed. My pain pump was hooked up to her arm. Nurses were wheeling her toward the VIP wing.
Before she left, she glanced back at me and mouthed the words.
“You b*tch. Finn is always mine.”
I was trembling with rage, trying with all my strength to get up and confront her.
But the intensifying pain slammed me back down.
The door opened again. Finn rushed in with a worried face.
He said, “Ella, how is Grace doing?”
I looked at Finn with pleading eyes and used my last bit of strength to beg for help.
“Finn, please help me.”
Meanwhile, to interrupt me, Grace said, “Finn, I’m so scared.”
My faint, weak voice was drowned out by his whining nearby.
Hearing that, Finn said, “I’m sorry, Ella. I have to check on Grace. Later, I’ll be back.”
Then, he turned and left without the slightest hesitation.
t felt like my heart was being sliced into pieces.
The last thing I saw before I blacked out was the sight of Finn’s decisive departure.
By the time they reattached the pump, I had been unconscious owing to the huge pain for three hours.

She rolled her eyes, not even trying to hide it, and said with dissatisfaction, “Mr. Harris? He left ages ago. Mrs. Harris said she was uncomfortable here and kept whining until he took her home.
“Rich people, right? Your injuries are way worse than Mrs. Harris’s. But apparently only his wife’s pain matters to Mr. Harris.”
Listening to the nurse’s words, I had no intention of making my identity clear to her.
Telling others that I was the true Mrs. Harris would make me look more wrecked and cheaper.
The nurse said before leaving, “I redid your bandages. Please try not to move. Press the button if you need anything.”
