Chapter 190: The Red Carpet

[Isabella’s POV]

I sat on the edge of my massive, circular bed in the master stateroom, my legs crossed, the gold-plated Desert Eagle resting casually on my lap.

The room was a masterpiece of opulent design—mirrored ceilings, crushed velvet walls, and a panoramic glass wall that looked out over the dark, churning Mediterranean. But I wasn’t looking at the ocean. I was staring at the massive flat-screen monitor mounted on the wall, watching the live security feeds from the lower decks.

I was mesmerized.

Jake Hart was a force of nature. He moved through my ship not like a tactical operative, but like a predator that had finally been let off its leash. I watched him walk directly into an ambush in the lower corridors, his posture so utterly devoid of fear that my own Spetsnaz mercenaries hesitated. I watched him fire with a cold, mechanical precision that bordered on the divine.

I watched him shatter the dining room windows, using the wind and the velvet drapes to blind a squad of six men before dismantling them with brutal, terrifying efficiency. He was a symphony of violence, a masterpiece of destruction. I had spent my entire life surrounded by powerful men. Politicians, generals, billionaires. Men who thought they ruled the world because they could sign a piece of paper or order a drone strike from a thousand miles away. But they were all cowards. They hid behind their money and their titles. Jake was different. He had the money, he had the power, but he didn’t hide behind it. He was down in the blood and the dirt, fighting with his own two hands, risking his own life to tear my empire apart. He was a true King, leading from the front, and the sheer, raw masculinity of it was intoxicating.

He was bleeding. I could see the dark stain spreading across his side on the high-definition feed. He was in agony. He was mortal. Every step he took was a testament to his sheer, unyielding willpower.

And yet, he was unstoppable.

"Magnificent," I breathed, my heart hammering against my ribs like a trapped bird. A flush of deep, intoxicating heat spread across my chest, pooling low in my stomach. I had never felt anything like this. The sheer, overwhelming power he projected was the ultimate aphrodisiac. For two years, I had thought of him as a toy. A brilliant, ambitious boy that I had broken for my own amusement. I had watched him rebuild himself, and I had enjoyed the game of cat and mouse we played across the globe. But this... this was no longer a game. This was a conquest. He wasn’t just dismantling my financial network; he was dismantling my reality. He was proving, with every bullet he fired and every mercenary he broke, that he was the superior force. And a dark, twisted part of my soul, a part I had buried beneath decades of aristocratic arrogance, was absolutely thrilled by the prospect of submitting to him.

The door to the stateroom burst open.

Grigori stumbled into the room. The massive Russian looked completely unhinged. His tactical vest was covered in drywall dust, and he was bleeding from a shallow graze on his cheek. His eyes were wide with a panic that had completely shattered his military discipline.

"Madame!" Grigori yelled, his voice cracking with terror. "He has breached the main deck! His bodyguard is heading for the server room, and Hart is coming up the grand staircase! We have to evacuate! There is a helicopter on the top deck! We can still escape!"

I didn’t look away from the monitor. I watched Jake pause at the base of the spiral staircase, leaning heavily against a marble pillar, his face pale and tight with pain. He looked exhausted, but his eyes were burning with a dark, absolute fire.

"I am not going anywhere, Grigori," I said softly, my voice practically purring.

"You are going to die!" Grigori roared, stepping toward me, his massive hands balling into fists. "He is slaughtering our men! The accounts are frozen! The empire is gone! There is nothing left to fight for! We have lost!"

I finally turned my head, looking at the terrified Russian. He was so small. So utterly insignificant compared to the man walking up my stairs.

"You are right, Grigori," I smiled, a slow, wicked expression that made him freeze in his tracks. "The empire is gone. The money is gone. The game is over."

I stood up, the emerald silk of my gown flowing around my legs. I picked up the gold-plated Desert Eagle, the heavy metal gleaming in the soft light of the stateroom. The weapon felt perfect in my hand, a heavy, lethal extension of my own will.

"But you misunderstand the objective," I whispered, walking slowly toward him. "I didn’t build this empire to rule the world. I built it to find an equal. I built it to find a man who could actually look me in the eyes and take it all away from me. I built it for him."

Grigori stared at me, his eyes wide with absolute horror. He finally understood. He wasn’t working for a criminal mastermind. He was working for a woman who was sexually obsessed with her own destruction. He was looking at a monster who wanted to be conquered. Grigori had spent his entire life serving the Vane Consortium because he believed in my absolute, unyielding authority. He believed I was a cold, calculating machine who would sacrifice anything to maintain control. He didn’t understand that control was boring. Control was a cage. I had spent forty-two years being the smartest, most ruthless person in every room I entered. I was exhausted. I wanted someone to take the wheel. I wanted someone to look at my empire, look at my power, and crush it into dust just to prove they could. Jake Hart was the only man on earth capable of doing that.
