Chapter 170

Ray couldn’t help but chuckle. Jess was undeniably a girl who appeared innocent and pure on the outside, but in reality, she was calculating, manipulative, and promiscuous–and a masterful one at that.
The moment she appeared, she subtly jabbed at Molly. A little provocation here, a little jab there.
Interesting. Very interesting.
Katie couldn’t stand it. She stepped forward to defend her sister. “Jess, stop your seductive games. He is my sister’s friend- you’d better not cause trouble!”
In her eyes, Ray had risked himself just to come out for her sister. That meant he had to be her sister’s boyfriend! And now, Jess dared to try and steal him away?
Jess’s eyes filled with watery haze. She blinked up at Ray, voice trembling. “I’m so sorry! I just wanted to leave this place. I never meant to cause such a misunderstanding! I’m… I’m really sorry!”
Her hands covered her face, shoulders quivering ever so slightly, and the tears in her eyes confirmed she was crying.
Molly snorted. “No need to put on a show in front of me! Ray and I aren’t a couple. If you want to be with him, go ahead and try all you like. But just so you know, he’s… a player.”
Even her body was his.
“Molly…” Katie stomped her foot in frustration. Of course, she thought her sister was sulking. Her sister was perfect in every way
except for her pride. She’d rather endure injustice silently than complain.
Ray, meanwhile, walked straight toward Jess.
Seeing this, Katie panicked. Her sister hadn’t moved to stop him, so she leapt forward, using her own body as a shield.
Jess was infamous for her seductive ways—and she had history with Katie. Both were campus beauties, but only one could hold the top spot. Jess had always held a grudge, interfering whenever a high–quality guy showed interest in Katie.
Katie didn’t care about men for herself; her focus was her studies. She was aiming for a doctorate. Her sister had gone to prison for her sake–she owed it to Molly to earn enough money to give her the best life possible. She knew it wouldn’t make up for the freedom Molly had lost, but it was all she could do.
Now Jess dared to go after her sister’s man? That was a line Katie would never allow to be crossed.
She rushed forward too quickly. Ray didn’t manage to stop her–though he could have, if he’d wanted to. But was it really necessary?
So, he collided with Katie.
She was light, and the impact sent her stumbling backward. Her vision flipped upside down, Hands flailing, she couldn’t help
but scream.
