Ray moved the table blocking the door aside, nudged the door open, adjusted his hat, and stepped out
Shane and his wife exchanged bewildered glances.
Ray just… left? What had he meant when he asked them to “wait for him“?
“We should block the door! Don’t let him in!” Shane exclaimed.
Alina rolled her eyes. “Are you out of your mind? Our door is specially reinforced. Nothing you do coul stop him. What exactly are you going to use to block him?”
“Uh…” Shane was speechless. He scratched his head. “Then… what do we do? This is our house. How can we just let him come and go as if it’s his place?”
“Wait and see what he’s up to,” Alina said, sighing. Her head ached just thinking about all the stupid things her husband had done when he was young.
A moment later, the roar of a car engine reached them, and a sleek, imposing G–Class rolled up to the
gate.
Ray got out, then started unloading things from the car.
That was… a stove? For hot pot!
Shane and Alina froze for a moment, then their faces lit up with joy. They hurried to open the door and let Ray in.
After the stove, Ray carried in a massive plastic bag. A quick glance revealed it was packed with boxes of fresh ingredients.
Hot pot… they were finally going to eat hot pot.
The couple was so excited they could have cried. A month of dry rations, compressed biscuits, and canned food–finally, something fresh.
Ray started the fire in the living room. Soon, the red broth began to bubble, sending a mouthwatering aroma wafting through the air.
Shane and Alina didn’t need to be told twice. They crowded around, ready to start cooking.
Ray raised a hand to stop them. “What are you doing?”
“You’re inviting us to hot pot, aren’t you?” Shane said, confused.
Ray chuckled. “When did I ever say that?”
Shane hesitated… indeed, he hadn’t.
He stammered, “You went through all the trouble of bringing the hot pot here. If not to feed us, then…

what?”
“I wanted to. I felt like it,” Ray replied. “What’s wrong with that?”
Shane’s face flushed red. “If you’re not letting us eat, then take your stove and get out! You’re not
welcome here!*
He sounded bold, but his stomach betrayed him, growling loudly, mouth watering uncontrollably. Hunger and craving had teamed up. Even the dry rations and canned food they had despised were long gone.
Ray shook his head. “I’m eating here.”
“Ray! Don’t be unreasonable!” Shane shouted in frustration.
Ray smiled. “Now you want to talk about reason? Back in school, I begged you, pleaded with you not to make life difficult for me. Did you listen? I spent over half a month in the hospital, got a major demerit, nearly got expelled… and now you want me to be reasonable? That debt isn’t so easily forgotten.”
Shane’s blood boiled. He lunged at Ray. “Get out of my house!”
But Ray merely flicked his arm. Shane staggered backward, almost losing his balance.
‘Think you can match me in strength? Unless your superpower is body enhancement–or you’ve absorbed four abilities like I have–you don’t stand a chance,‘ Ray thought smugly.
Alina quickly steadied her husband before he hit the floor.
Shane was furious and humiliated. He shoved Alina aside, pointing angrily at Ray. “This is too much! This is my house! My house!”
Outraged beyond reason. How dare someone barge into their home and start eating hot pot? And worse …he wouldn’t even let them eat.
“Want to bite me or something?” Ray said, picking up a slice of meat and dipping it into the broth. In three seconds, the marbled beef was perfectly cooked. He swirled it in the sauce and popped it into his mouth.
