Chapter 99
That night, Ray was in the middle of an intense workout, sweat soaking his body, when his phone suddenly
sounded an alert.
He stopped and checked the screen.
Someone was at the door–knocking–and holding up a phone high in the air, playing a video directly at the surveillance camera.
The image was unclear, but it was enough to tell it was something very much not suitable for children.
Ray went down to the basement and remotely opened the door.
With a clang, the iron gate swung open.
The man at the entrance froze for a moment, then stepped inside, shock flashing across his face.
There was light here–that alone wasn’t so strange. But how could it be this warm?
He looked at Ray, his gaze flickering, clearly weighing whether he should make a move and seize this place for himself.
In the end, he restrained himself. After all, Ray’s reputation was terrifying.
“This is the video you wanted,” the man said, lifting his phone.
“Put it on the table,” Ray replied.
The man walked over and set it down, then hesitated when Ray didn’t move. “Aren’t you going to watch it?”
“Aren’t you going to step back?” Ray shot back.
‘So cautious,‘ the man thought. He nodded and retreated to the side.
Ray smiled faintly. In truth, he was saving the man’s life–otherwise, a bullet might have already been fired. He preferred to avoid killing inside the house; cleaning up blood was troublesome.
He walked over and picked up the phone.
It really was an explicit video.
The two men in it were Sean—and the man standing in front of him now.
‘Damn. He really went at Sean. Hard. What a warrior,‘ Ray thought.
Ray nodded, tossed the phone back, and said, “Wait outside. I’ll bring the goods down.”
“Alright.” The man withdrew, and Ray closed the iron gate.
A short while later, the gate opened again.
The man entered and saw several boxes of instant noodles and water stacked on the floor.
He crouched down and carried them out one by one, remaining extremely cautious, his eyes never leaving Ray,

as if afraid Ray might suddenly attack.
Finally, after he moved the last box, the iron gate slammed shut behind him.
Ray didn’t care about such a small amount of supplies–it wasn’t even a drop in the bucket. Ruining his credibility over something so trivial wasn’t worth it.
But Sean getting violated like that–what did it mean? It meant his little cult had completely fallen apart.
Disasters are the best breeding ground for faith. But at the same time, when life and death are on the line, faith also collapses the fastest.
Sean had gathered people through belief, but he couldn’t lead them out of danger. So when faced with sufficient temptation, they betrayed him without hesitation–going so far as to humiliate him utterly.
Ray shook his head. In contrast, Bruce’s situation was entirely different.
Not only had Bruce survived the bounty, his influence was growing stronger by the day.
Blind deception alone was never enough. You needed real strength and personal charisma–only then could you become the center everyone gravitated toward, like stars surrounding the moon, standing out and rising as a king.
