My Secret Husband Is My Cold Boss novel Chapter 100

Sampson lifted his gaze, observing Wendy closely.

The red neon glow from the supermarket sign across the street cast a faint light on the corner of her eyes. Her brow was slightly furrowed, and if one didn't look closely, they might think she was on the verge of tears.

It was the exact same fragile, helpless expression she had worn the night she got drunk.

Sampson spoke softly, "Ask you what?"

The steam from the hot soup tickled Wendy's nose, making her sniffle as she looked up. "About what Willa said."

Sampson held her gaze but didn't push.

Their eyes met, and a heavy silence stretched between them for a moment.

Wendy had no desire to play dumb or beat around the bush, so she laid it out directly. "Everything Willa just said was true."

"The guy standing next to her is Wyatt. He has feelings for me."

"But I have absolutely no interest in him, and I never did."

"He was already working by the time I moved into their house. Back then, Willa was constantly bullying me, and he saw it happen a couple of times and helped me out."

"I was grateful to him, but that was the extent of it."

"I only realized his intentions had shifted three months ago. He got drunk one night and forced his way into my room. That was when I realized how wrong things had gotten."

Wendy hated situations she couldn't control.

Exposing this dark secret was a massive risk for her.

She kept her eyes glued to Sampson's face as she spoke, desperately trying to ensure the situation remained within boundaries she could handle.

She watched as Sampson listened to her explain Wyatt's twisted obsession with total, unshakeable calm.

Yet, that perfect composure cracked the moment she mentioned Willa bullying her.

Sampson furrowed his brows slightly, his voice dropping. "She bullied you constantly?"

"Huh?"

Wendy was genuinely caught off guard that this was the part he chose to focus on.

She hesitated before muttering, "...It was fine."

She quickly reminded him, "I'm trying to tell you about Wyatt."

Sampson clearly didn't think Wyatt was worth discussing at all.

But seeing Wendy's absolute insistence, he obligingly played along. "Is Wyatt your half-brother?"

Sampson's response completely took Wendy by surprise.

However, he wasn't finished.

"Mrs. Sanders, I really don't like repeating myself."

"But since you seem to have a selective memory, I don't mind reminding you."

"It doesn't matter to me why you married me. I only care about the result."

"As long as the result is good, that's enough for me."

Wendy's eyes widened, a sudden brightness lighting up her gaze.

She had never truly intended to justify herself.

The real reason she kept aggressively throwing the topic at him wasn't to communicate—it was a test.

People who lack security will subconsciously push others away over and over again, just to see if the other person will still firmly choose them in the end.

He had passed the test flawlessly.

Deep within Wendy's heart, she felt a tiny, fragile seed finally break through the soil.
