Chapter 183
Coloe’s POV
When Luna Diane showed up at the door with her suitcase, we were playing a board game.
Without any questions, she settled in beside us and simply watched the game for multiple rounds for a few hours.
It was after lunch that she finally started talking. “Chloe, I think I now understand why you were so hesitant to mate Axel…men are so unreliable.”
Sandra turned to her with a look that said ‘welcome to the sisterhood.’
Luna Diane leaned back on the couch and crossed her arms over her chest. She seemed to be having some kind of epiphany.
“What have I spent the last two decades of my life doing?” she muttered and then turned to Axel. “I don’t know if I raised you like him…did I?”
Riven pat Luna Diane’s shoulder. “It took a bit of refinement but he ended up good enough. We women should learn to live for ourselves. Chloe understood that early enough.”
If only they knew that all of my understanding had come from a lifetime of pain, ten years being married to a lying, cheating man who loved to keep up appearances.
Luna Diane turned to me. “Chloe, let’s say that you actually decided to screw Axel and do your own thing, what were you planning on doing with your life?”
I hummed. “Travel. Go to college. Eat lots of good food and go clubbing without a man breathing down my neck.” Axel turned to me with a lightly amused expression. “You do not seem like someone who would enjoy the club.”
“I won’t but the freedom to know that you can go without a man breathing down your neck…that is the real gift.”
Luna Diane sighed and let her head fall back against the couch. Her hands trembled at her sides and I could tell that she was trying so hard not to cry.
“Twenty years,” she whispered. “Twenty years of sleeping in the same bed with him and he cannot trust my judgment. For goodness sake, I carried two children for him.”
We wanted to give Luna Diane time to be with her mind but she recovered very quickly.
She sat up and took off her jacket. “You all have been snacking all morning. What do you want to eat for lunch?”
Luna Diane and Riven worked together in the kitchen and the two of them made us a lunch spread. As we were about to start eating, Luna Silvia returned from the pack house with her mate behind her.
“Is it done?” I asked and she nodded.
“Hannah has made contact with Kovalsky,” Luna Silvia replied, handing me a file. “…and this is the contract for our partnership.”
I could hear the hesitation in her voice and see how tightly her fingers gripped the file. “Did something happen?”
I asked.
Luna’s lips pursed. “Chloe, you might regret this,” she started. “Giving the licensing rights to us. Your Alpha will

“The rights are mine, Killian and Asher’s to decide on,” I said firmly. “And we have decided on a partnership that would be the most beneficial to our growth as a company. It was not like I signed a contract somewhere that said I had to surrender all of my intellectual property to the pack.”
Luna Silvia watched me for a few more seconds and she sighed, handing the file to me.
I opened it and read through the terms. When I got to the breach of contract clause, I paused.
They had written the contract in a way that would make it easy for me to back out without too much of a penalty.
I would have loved to argue the fact that this contract was at a disadvantage to them but I knew they would not budge on this.
Taking the pen, I signed the contract and handed it back to Luna Silvia. “As for the announcement of the partnership, wait for some time. I will tell you when to have it released.”
Releasing it now was likely to make those idiots cautious and rethink their strategy. They needed to remain of the opinion that I was a sitting duck with my hands tied.
Axel’s fingers intertwining with mine pulled me out of my thoughts. “I am so grateful to be on your side.”
Darius laughed. “I was thinking the same thing. You are so small and yet so ruthless. Imagine some poor unsuspecting guy getting on your radar.”
I rolled my eyes. “You guys make it sound like I am some kind of witch.”
My phone buzzed and I picked it up. When I read the text, my jaw clenched.
Somehow, that bastard, Donatello had gotten my phone number and sent me a purchase receipt for the abortion pill in my name and with my card details.
He also sent a few screenshots of a fabricated text thread between Mara and I with us hating Hannah and plotting to make her have a miscarriage.
The text underneath was what got my blood boiling.
Since your Alpha is too slow to make decisions, I have petitioned the royal pack. No matter how much you warm the crown prince’s bed, he cannot go against the king. Even if he wants to try, a little donation to the kingdom from me would shut his mouth up.
I told you I can ruin you if I wanted to. Behave yourself and do as you are told.
At the same time, I received a text from Hannah with the same information.
Her message underneath was a lot more subtle but a lot more smug.
Chloe, I have no idea why you would do this. Just meet up with Donatello tonight and I am sure that he can find
you a way out.
