Lucian gave her a look, grunted an acknowledgment, and turned into the bathroom.
The moment the door clicked shut, Seraphina let out a massive breath.
She touched her cheeks; they were burning up.
Little Bean giggled inside her. "Mommy, you're blushing!"
Shut up, Seraphina scolded internally.
"Mommy, you obviously like Daddy, why won't you just admit it!"
Too exhausted to argue with her tiny traitor, Seraphina grabbed the room phone and dialed the front desk.
"Hi, could you please send an extra set of bedding to Room 3018?"
"Of course, ma'am, we'll send it up right away."
Hanging up, Seraphina sat on the edge of the bed, listening to the water running in the bathroom, her heart hammering an erratic rhythm.
It reminded her of their wedding night.
They had been alone in a room just like this, the air thick with tension and unspoken heat.
But nothing had happened that night.
Lucian emerged from the bathroom wrapped in a plush hotel robe. His hair was damp, and a stray bead of water trailed down from his hairline, sliding over his collarbone before disappearing into the V-neck of the robe.
He looked like a model who had just stepped off the pages of a men's fashion magazine.
"Your turn," he said.
Seraphina grabbed her pajamas and practically sprinted into the bathroom.
The air inside was still fragrant with his body wash—a crisp, masculine scent of cedar.
A fresh wave of heat rushed to Seraphina's face.
When she stepped out, scrubbed clean, Lucian was already lying on the small sofa.
It was just as tiny as she had feared. He had to sleep on his side, his long legs curled up awkwardly. He looked miserable.
The spare blanket from the hotel was draped casually over him, exposing a sliver of his lean, sculpted waist.
"Are... are you comfortable like that?" Seraphina asked hesitantly.
Lucian opened his eyes and looked at her. "I'll survive."
